1. Large Baskets
Large baskets are one of the most flexible pieces you can own! They are pretty and practical, not to mention they add beautiful texture to your space.
Great for housing cozy throws and extra pillows in any room of your home {pretty and functional right?}.

A super easy way to hide not so attractive planters is to simply place it in a basket. Don't forget to use some inexpensive liners to protect your basket when you water your plants.
Baskets are also great for corralling and storing items that you might want easy access to but may not necessarily want to see. These baskets in our entryway is where I put the toys that find their way downstairs.

2. Natural fiber rug {Jute, Sisal and Seagrass}
This might seem like an be an unlikely choice, but hear me out. To start off they are super affordable compared to their wool counterparts, and not to mention more versatile because of their neutral look {while still adding texture}.
Natural fiber rugs work with many different decor styles. Farmhouse, eclectic, and traditional spaces to name a few!
They are low maintenance and hide a multitude of sins {got pets and kids, then this rug is for you!}.
I also love the layered look you can achieve with jute rugs! Their neutral look makes a great backdrop for layering more intricate rugs {for the best results try and stick to a flat woven rug when doing this}.

3. Ceramic Garden Stool
It is said that garden stools have been around for as long as a millennium! Although these design classics were originally intended for use in the garden {hence the name}, these days they are used inside just as much {if not more} than outside.
This small but functional {and stylish} accent piece can be used in just about any room in your home, including the bathroom since moisture will not affect it.
You can use a ceramic garden stool as a table.
As seating {most can hold the weight of an average adult}.
As a footstool.
Or anything else you can think of! One of my favorite ways to use it is as a plant stand.

4. Trays
Adding trays to the list was a no-brainer because honestly, it's one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your home decor arsenal!
My very favorite thing about decorating with trays though is that a tray makes everything looks more look cohesive and organized! Pieces that would be "lost" on their own or little knick knacks that would otherwise look like clutter is instantly a pretty pulled together vignette when placed on a tray!
Trays can be used in a variety of ways in most any room of your home.
I love using them in the kitchen and in our eating areas.
Trays are also a good idea when it comes to decorating your coffee table. Using trays on your coffee table makes easy work of moving your decor to the side or completely off the table when needed, by just picking up the whole tray and moving it, or just by pushing it aside.
Tray are also wonderful for showcasing your seasonal decor!
Don't forget trays also work great outside too {just be mindful of the material}. Talk about versatility!

Well, that concludes the list of 4 of the most versatile home decor pieces you can own and some ways to use them around your home!
There are a few more pieces that fall into this category that I would love to share with you, so I will definitely be writing a part two!
What's on your list of must-have decor? And do you have any of these pieces?
Thanks for stopping by, see you next time.

Great suggestions, Linda! I have a serious addiction to baskets. But you can get a lot of use out of them, so I really don't see the problem with that! I've been on the search for a good rug that can withstand pets and family members, so I might look into your suggestion for a jute rug. You have such a lovely home, and your kids are too cute!

What a great roundup of ideas for timeless decor, we all can use these tips. And your kids are beautiful, just like your home. I love natural fiber rugs but my hubby not so much. I made a bad rug choice not too long ago and have been thinking of changing them out to natural rugs (shh, don't tell him yet).
Thanks for linking up with us at Waste Not Wednesday, be sure to come back each week!
