I shared my bedroom refresh with you a while back. But, I also showed you in that same post my not so done seating area.

    I know A hot mess!

But I eventually got it together. Just in time to have a spot to escape to when the kids get out of school in just a few short weeks.

    Master bedroom update in progress

Now that I finally put this corner of my bedroom together.

I wanted to share with you the 5 tips I used for creating this cozy seating area.

    Sitting Area In Master Bedroom

5 Easy Tips For A Cozy Master Bedroom Sitting Area

    1. A Comfy Chair {Or Two}

The first thing you need to create a cozy sitting area in your is a comfy chair. This is not the spot for petite chairs that you perch on. You want chairs that are generous in size since they allow you to curl up comfortably.

Which is why I love these two armchairs I initially got for my dining room turned office in 2017. They are a nice substantial size, the neutral color goes with everything.

    2. A Small Table

No matter where you having a seating area you should always have a surface within reach to place things like a drin.

Plus, this is another spot in your cozy seating area that you can add some small accessories and decor that can be switched up seasonally.

Of course, some fresh flowers never hurt 😄.

    3. A Cozy Throw Blanket

No matter the season having a throw blanket nearby is always a good idea. Honestly, I use a throw blanket more in the warmer months because of the AC {I'm always cold ya'll} .

A throw blanket is not only utilitarian though. It's also a great way to add a fun pop of color or texture to your seating area.

    4. Ambient Lighting

As a general rule of thumb overhead lighting is something I only use if I'm doing something around the house that requires a lot of light {cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.}.

Otherwise, I prefer ambient lighting from lamps and or candles. Which is a lot more soothing, inviting, and not to mention more flattering.

    5. Soft Throw Pillows

Of course when curling up in your new cozy seating area, especially if you have a larger seat having a soft pillow will be welcomed.

And just like the throw blanket, a throw pillow is another chance to bring in more textures and color.

    Reading Nook

Always go for the feather inserts, which you can get pretty inexpensively nowadays.

Fun fact I don't like pillows behind me when I'm sitting down. But, I love to have one my lap or side. Weird I know LOL.

    Blue and White Floral Pillow

Now that you have everything set, extras like a footstool and baskets with your favorite books or magazines will make your seating area even more welcoming.

I'm very grateful to have this space in our room done.

    Master Bedroom Sitting Area

I hope these 5 easy tips for a cozy sitting area will inspire you to create a cozy seating area in any space in your home.

      Hi!
I landed on your site after googling “how to wash IKEA Ektorp covers” (great post, by the way). I love your style, and your writing. Are you still posting? I hope so. It looks like this was your last entry - from nearly a year ago. I’m sure I will find so much inspiration here - I already have several projects in mind after seeing your decor. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!
      Best,
      Tara
