A Wooden Sunburst Mirror To Brighten Things Up

Hey friends, I hope everyone had a great weekend! Today we're talking mirrors, a wooden sunburst mirror to be exact.

After much back and forth with myself I finally when ahead and switched out the large faux bamboo mirror over my fireplace with a new wooden sunburst mirror. And well, it was all because of my decor OCD {which I didn't know I had until now LOL}.

Ok let's back up a bit, I absolutely love the faux bamboo mirror I had over the fireplace. It was a $15 find that was totally transformed by the magic that is gold spray paint.

Only after we hung it up though that I realized that most of the reflection was of our not so attractive ceiling fan. In hindsight, it's not surprising considering I was hanging an almost 4 ft tall mirror over the fireplace.

You guys for months every time I walked by and saw the reflection in the mirror I would grit my teeth. It drove me crazy!

I realized a round mirror would work much better. It would help soften all the straight lines {fireplace, windows, etc...}, in addition to not reflecting our ceiling fan.

So I was on the hunt again for a large round mirror {on a pretty tight budget}. My mantel is 6 ½ feet long so the new mirror had to be a substantial size, at least 40" in diameter.

*Tip: When putting a mirror above your mantel, it's a good idea to go bigger. Having a large focal point like a big beautiful mirror will keep you from having to compensate by adding more "stuff" to you mantel.

So while doing some online "window" shopping I came across the Canyon mirror from Pier 1. A beautiful wooden sunburst mirror and it was on sale! Sunburst mirrors to me are a classic, in much they same way blue and white pieces are.

This wooden sunburst mirror checked all the boxes. The size was good, 42" in diameter. And more importantly, the price was right!

I immediately called the nearest Pier 1 store and they had one left in stock. A few minutes later I was backing out of the driveway, on my way to pick it up. It fit in my car with not a single inch to spare, that tells me it was meant to be LOL.

I love the warmth and texture it adds to the room.

You guys I almost died when hubby said, "you should make that circle around the mirror gold, it would look nice".  Don't tell him, but I love that idea! I'm gonna wait a while though and enjoy it as is for now.

By the way, this is not a sponsored post, I just really love the look of this wooden sunburst mirror and the reasonable price, so I wanted to share.

Let me know friends, are you team bamboo or sunburst?

Hi. Did you ever stain or paint your mirror gold?
I was thinking of the same thing but I was looking online to see if someone has tried this.

Definitely like the sunburst wooden mirror. I think it blends in nicer. I'm on the hunt for a mirror as well. I'll have to stop by pier 1. Enjoy!!!!

This is a great find! Pier 1 has amazing products. I wonder if painting the center gold would "glam" it up like the bamboo piece that was there before. Maybe an amber stain? Either way it will be fantastic! Thanks for sharing on Peace, Love, Link-up!

This will be featured on my next link-up on Friday the 22nd. Stop by and check it out and share any new projects you are working on : )

Yes it looks great Linda! I agree that the circle softens the other straight spaces. Ha Ha - I can't imagine how happy you must have been when your husband said that 🙂

Btw, I really like your blue and white curtains.
