Hey friends, I hope everyone had a great weekend! After my Lego filled post on Saturday, I figure we might as well keep the Lego theme going!
We recently had a Lego themed party for Jadens 9th birthday, that's basically been 7 years in the making!
Jaden has been playing with Legos since the age of two and hasn't stop. Jaden almost exclusively plays with Legos when he's in the house. His amazing custom builds never cease to impress us! We even took him to LegoLand this pass fall.
I'm actually quite surprise it took this long for him to ask for a Lego themed party! Can I tell you this was the easiest birthday party I've ever thrown for the kids! The primary colors associated with Legos made it really easy and inexpensive to put together {source list with links below}.
I started off by making the invitations in Photoshop using free resources {Lego font, brick paper, and hi-res Lego figure images} I found through Google.
Decorations:
Because we also rented a video game truck {we scored major parents points for that one}, I knew the majority of the time the boys would be outside. So I kept the decorations as simple as possible and contained it to just the dining room. That also help save money on decorations {that video game truck was not cheap y'all LOL}.
The only prep I did for the party was the "Lego bricks" backdrop, that took all of 20 minutes to make and the goodie bags.
To create the backdrop, I simply glued paper plates to matching colored poster boards. I used thumb tacks to hang them up. So simple and quick!
For a real easy activity, I filled a clear container with Legos that I counted ahead of time. Then had the kids guess how many Legos were in the container. We gave a mini Lego set to the winner.
I initially was going go tie the balloons on either side of the snack table, but when they accidentally got loose, I realize I like the festive look and left them as is.
Snacks:
It was a no brainer to use Jadens Lego storage head as the centerpiece for the snacks table. The party was after lunch, so we only offered snacks and cupcakes. Since I knew the boys would mostly be on the go between playing inside and outside, I opted to get individual bagged snacks of assorted chips, apple slices, cookies, fruit snacks, and crackers.
I ordered the cupcakes from my local grocery store and had them use primary color frosting. To jazz them up a bit, I placed them in some matching color cupcake wrappers {I'm not sure what happened to the green wrapper LOL}.
Jaden made the Lego napkin holder ?!
These Rice Krispies "Lego bricks" where so easy to make. As you can see the boys got to them before I even took the pictures, I had to shoo them away before the blue ones were completely gone ?.
All you need to make these treats is pre-made Rice Krispies Treats bars, primary colored icing, and matching color M&Ms. Smear the icing on the Rice Krispies bar, place the M&Ms immediately while the icing is still "wet" and that's it!
Jaden gets to order soda if he wants when we eat out. So it was a special treat for him to have his two favorites. I found some mini cans that where the perfect size.
Goodie Bags:
The only other prep I did ahead of time beside the "Lego bricks" backdrop was putting the goodie bags together.
These where so easy to make! I used primary colored craft bags, and glued on matching paper circles {I use my 2" hole punch for the circles}. The tags are from Targets dollar spot {see source list with links below}.
The party was a huge success and the kids had a blast! Most of them stayed well pass the party end time. That night before bed Jaden gave me the biggest hug and told me how great his party was and that really made it all worth it!
