I'm so excited to finally launch my blog! Starting a blog is something I've been thinking about doing since 2008. Initially my interest in starting a blog was to use it as a way to stay in touch with our family and friends that were all over the country, especially since we moved so often for work.
Well that blog was very short-lived {a total of two post I believe LOL}. I had a high risk pregnancy and my daughter was born premature, so needless to say the blog fell to the wayside never to be dusted off again.
Although that first blog didn't work out, blogging was something I was still very interested in pursuing. However with our increased use of social media, the need for a family blog was no longer there. The only other thing I knew I could blog about with as much enthusiasm as I would my family, is my love for all things related to home decor.
The idea of starting a home decor blog is admittedly a bit intimidating. There are so many amazing home decor blogs out there already. So I did what any normal person would do . . . I procrastinated.
A little over a year ago I decided to just stop operating out of fear and take a leap of faith and just start my blog. I figured if it doesn't work out, hey at least I tried. It was such a good feeling to let go of that fear!
Once I made up my mind that I was starting a blog, choosing a name was simple for me. 'The Home i Create' not only relates to my home decor and design choices but the overall environment I create in our home for our family. Because while I love decorating my home, I love my family more! So having a home that's livable and works for our family trumps everything {yes, even pretty decor}, hence the tag line "decorate a little, love a lot".
Right around the time I was getting things ready to launch this blog my husband lost his job. I decided to hit the pause button on the launch until we were in a more stable situation.
In the meantime to keep myself motived and excited about the whole blogging thing, I started "blogging for myself" {and hubby}. I did it to get a feel for the process of writing a full blog post and because I learn best by "doing". That process was very beneficial and I quickly realize that a lot more work goes into a single blog post than I realized. But you know what? I was still excited and enjoyed every minute of it! This really gave me encouragement to move forward.
A little over eight months ago my husband found a wonderful new job that required us to move from New Jersey to Tennessee. One of the best things about moving is having a blank slate to decorate, and I'm so excited I get to share this decorating journey {among other things} with y'all!
I know this post is very lengthy and I appreciate all who took the time to read it. Moving forward expect much shorter posts!
Hope to see you again soon!
