Project: #1room30days - Week 2 Big Boy Room makeover

Hey everyone! We are at the end of week 2 of Project: 1 Room 30 Days big boy room makeover hosted by Alaya at behindthebiggreendoor.com

For the kick-off {also my week 1} post, I shared my inspiration board and my plans for my sons room update!

So this second week admittedly wasn't as productive as I wanted since I was working on my spring home tour.

Although I didn't get as much done as I wanted, I still made progress. The biggest one being  getting my sons Legos organized {parents with Lego obsessed kids know what I'm talking about LOL}.

My son is not a casual Lego builder. He has hundreds of Legos and builds just about everyday. So this had to be addressed before I could move forward with the rest of the plans I have for the room.

This is what the floor in his room looked like just about everyday! He seem to have mastered walking around Legos {the rest of us not so much, can you say ouch!}.

Although we did have storage in place, it certainly wasn't being utilize in the right way.

We realize the main reason Jadens room looks like a giant Lego bomb went off in there all the time is because he would have to search through most his Legos to find any given piece.

Well we had a plan to help solve that and the whole family pitched in to help. Over a couple of hours while listening to Pandora, we successfully gathered all his Legos from his room and around the house and organized them by color.

Here is the end result of our hard work! Legos that are organized.

Jaden was so excited and exclaimed how much easier it will be for him to build now!

We were even able to get rid of one of the storage towers that we got from Ikea, so now they don't take up nearly as much space in the room.

One of  Jaden's biggest complaint was his ability {or lack thereof} when it came to finding his mini figure pieces, which often resulted in {you guessed it} large amounts of Legos being dumped on the floor to find one tiny mini figure part.

So we organized them separately in this amazing lucite piece I found at HomeGoods. This was definitely a splurge item, but worth it since he will be using it everyday!

Just this step alone made a huge improvement in his room! Will this be the end of Legos on the floor, probably not. Now however with having it all organized and giving him a dedicated surface {his new desk} to build on, the hope is that there will be a lot less Legos on the floor!

Oh and we got rid of the green futon {we donated it to the Good Samaritan}, the room feels so much bigger without it!

My plans for week 3 is to put his desk together {it's from Ikea so pray for me}, upholster his headboard, and work on the furniture arrangement.

I love your Lego organization! We have a mountain of them and they are sprawled out all over my boys room, so I know the pain of accidentally stepping on one. Can't wait to see how the rest of his room turns out!

Hey Darnetha! Yes the Lego struggle is real! I love that it's completely unplugged play, but the mess it creates sometimes LOL ?! Thanks for stopping by!
