The big day is finally here! Welcome to Kayla’s pretty in pink girls room reveal for Project #1room30days. Participants had 30 days to makeover one room from start to finish.
After I made over my son Jaden’s room in the April round of Project #1room30days, my daughter Kayla didn’t leave me much of a choice but to makeover her bedroom for this round.
You can see my weekly progress for this girls room makeover, plus a complete source list of where I got {mostly} everything for the room from.

~ Pretty In Pink Girls Room Reveal ~
I started with this inspiration board that had plenty of girly and whimsical elements.
This what Kayla’s room looked like when we first started.
Now 4 weeks later we have what I like to call a pretty in pink {and gold} girls room.
I found this vintage gold Syroco flower wall decor about a year ago at one of my favorite antique shops. Although I had no idea where I was going to use it at the time, I’m so happy I got it.
The pretty gold and white {with a hint of blush pink} color set the tone for the rooms new look.
Not surprisingly, the pink wall color made the biggest impact in the room. Like I said in week 2, pink wasn’t my first choice of wall color. But, Kayla really wanted a pink room so we went with it.
The wall color is Angelic by Sherwin Williams, and it’ the perfect soft glowy pink color for a girls room.
A painted Ikea spice rack turned upside down creates a fun and easy little dress-up area.
By far the best addition to the room is this new stunning linen tufted daybed with a trundle. I was able to put it together myself {ok fine hubby helped, but only a little lol}. The trundle is perfect for out of town guests since we don’t have a guest bedroom.
The previous furniture arrangement made the room feel cramped. Having the bed against the wall makes it feels so much bigger.
After a bit of drama finding the right fabric to recover the window seat. I finally found this terrific blue fabric. Just like the window treatment, it tones down the pink and it keeps the room from being too sweet.
This 9-year-old Ikea bookshelf has held up really well, just like my other Ikea pieces. To give it a little update I lined the back with some pretty wrapping paper.
Using magazine holders is an easy way keep all those skinny early reader books neat and organized.
This pom pom fringe stationary window treatment was a super simple DIY. I made it using a tension rod and this fun geometric print shower curtain from Target as the fabric. There was enough “fabric” left over to make two matching pillows for the bed also.
These inexpensive acrylic book ledges take up very little visual space, and really showcases the colorful and fun covers of Kayla’s books.
I used Kayla’s artwork with mixed with other pieces to create this gallery wall.
If you follow me on Instagram, you might remember me sharing the silhouette of Kayla. We got them made during our trip to Disney World back in October.
The DIY Pottery Barn inspired pinboard cost me just of $10 to make. A far cry from the $250 price tag of the inspiration piece.
The vintage lucite chair I was so so excited to find from week 2, also got an update. You can see the full makeover HERE.
This quote describes Kayla so well! Even as a 3lb preemie she was fierce.
This was very much a collaborative effort between Kayla and me {much to my chagrin at times}. I wanted her room to be a space filled with the things she loves, and I think letting her have her say resulted in a space that she adores and loves spending time in!
It was a whole lot of work, but so rewarding to pull this pink girls room together in a month. This room is now Pretty, a bit whimsical, and full of personality just like Kayla!
A huge thank you to Alaya at Behind The Big Green Door the creator and organizer of project #1room30days!
Thank you for visiting! See you next time!
Hi Linda! I would love to hear how the day bed has held up since you bought it! we found your blog a long time ago and I filed it away for inspiration for my oldest daugther’s room. She is really considering the same day bed that you got so I would love to hear if you would still recommend it as a good purchase since some time has passed now! Thanks so so much!
Hi Katie! Yes, we still love this bed and it has held up great! Kayla and her friends give it a good work out from time to time with jumping on it and my son occasionally and so far so good! here is a link to the one we have –> http://bit.ly/2gPFIJ6
I love how this turned out! I’m looking at similar blush/coral Sherwin Williams colors for my office. Does the color feel like a true pink?
This room has to be my favorite kids room! I love every single detail. On another note, I think you have a little artist in your family!
I absolutely adore her bedroom, especially that it can easily grow with her! I’d love it if you shared your makeover with my Friday Favorites Linky Party this week at condobleus(dot)com.
