- Pretty In Pink Bedroom Progress Update
This week for Kayla's "pretty in pink" big girl bedroom makeover progress we're talking about painting the room pink {mostly}.
One amazing vintage chair find.
Plus a decluttering update with a clever Barbie doll storage hack.
After an all-out Pinterest, Google, and social media binge session looking through the most popular Sherwin Williams pink paint colors.
3 pretty light pink colors made the cut.
These pink colors are perfect for bedrooms and of course nurseries and playrooms too!
If you have a little girl it seems inevitable at some point they will ask for a pink bedroom.
This big girl bedroom makeover for my daughter was that point for us.
I'm very partial to pink. So I was totally ok with Kayla having a pink bedroom.
Then I realize what she had in mind looked something more like this...
Judge me if you want but it was an immediate no for me dawg. 😭 {Shout out to Randy from American Idol.}
But, this presented the perfect opportunity to teach Kayla the art of compromise.
I agreed to the pink room. She agreed to a lighter and more "livable" pink paint color.
Sherwin Williams Pink Paint Colors
We looked at a few different pink color options in 2 categories.
The dusty pink and blush color paint category. Along with the more soft and "true" light pink category.
Sherwin Williams Blush Pink and Dusty Pink Paint Colors
- Intimate White {this was my top choice}
- White Dogwood
- Cosmetic Blush
My paint choice would have been SW Intimate White if it was only up to me.
It's just a hint of pink.
All the photos I saw of spaces painted with it looked sooo pretty and soft.
My dreams were Dashed. Becuase Kayla wanted something a little pinkier {Is that a real word?}.
Sherwin Williams Light Pink and Soft Pink Paint Colors
- SW Angelic
- SW Charming Pink
- SW Rosy Outlook
Sherwin Williams Paint Samples
We ultimately narrowed it down to three SW soft pink colors. Angelic, Charming Pink, and Rosy Outlook.
They were more along the lines of the pink Kayla wanted.
We made our way to Sherwin Williams and picked up samples of all 3. {a detailed look at each below}
Although the paint colors looked almost identical in the container.
Once on the wall, it was a totally different story.
So while it can be annoying to shell out the extra money to get paint samples.
It's the only way to truly see how a color will look in your space.
Plus it's a whole lot less expensive than having to repaint a whole room.
Where To Get Paint Samples
A company that has become popular recently for its peel and stick paint samples is Samplize
Samplize is not a paint company.
But they offer a large (9"x14.75") peel and stick paint samples from these paint companies.
- Sherwin Williams
- Benjamin Moore
- PPG
- Farrow & Ball
This seems like a very convenient and cost-effective way to sample paint colors.
Now let's take a closer look at the pink colors we swatched.
Angelic Pink Sherwin Williams
Angelic is a very feminine color with a slightly warm undertone.
It can look like a classic pastel pink to a warm pigmented blush pink color depending on the light.
This is why I recommend using this color in a room that gets plenty of natural light.
Or it can look very pigmented and VERY pink.
Charming Pink Sherwin Williams
SW Charming Pink is slightly more pigmented than Angelic as you can see in the swatches I did.
It's not too light but not too dark pink either with a slightly warm undertone.
Perfect for happy spaces like a playroom or nursery.
Charming Pink vs Intimate White
When I was researching SW Charming pink for Kayla's room.
Intimate White also by Sherwin Williams came up a lot as an alternative to Charming Pink.
I'm not sure why though.
Charming Pink and Intimate White are very different colors as you can see.
I would say SW White Dogwood {shown above} is a closer match to SW Intimate White.
Rosy Outlook Sherwin Williams
SW Rosy Outlook in natural light looks like a very "rosy" pink. With a warm and slightly orange undertone.
Although, I can see it becoming an even brighter color pink once you do 2 or more coats.
Not quite as soft as the other 2 pink colors.
I would also recommend using this color in a room that gets plenty of natural light. Or this color can go from pretty to Pepto pink real quick.
Sherwin Williams Angelic, Our Favorite Pink Paint
After living with the paint swatches for a few days.
We decided on the paint color Angelic by Sherwin Williams.
It's the prettiest shade of soft pink. 💕
Y'all I can't say enough how much I love this color!
It's the perfect "blush" toned pale pink in natural light.
These photos are just not doing the color any justice!
Kayla's room gets plenty of light making the color really soft and the room just glows!
The first few days I kept thinking the lights were on.
I'm totally serious!
Look at this text exchange between hubby and me.
Paint Color Matching
Here is the paint can label in case you want to color match it.
Basically, you can show this to someone at the paint department at your local hardware or paint store.
And they will be able able to recreate the paint color for you.
{I recently had to do this when painting the door to my garage.}
Making The Room Less Pink
While the pink bedroom is beautiful. 10/10 would recommend.
It would be a bit much {at least to me} to accessorize with a lot more pink items.
Especially when it comes to the big pieces in the room.
Like the bed, desk, dresser, etc...
In our case, I decided to use neutral and white furniture.
Blue, gold, and white accents are used throughout the room to offset the pink.
Making a pink bedroom a lot more livable. Even if it's for a little girl.
This was honestly a point of comprise for me and Kayla.
Like I said in last week's post. She has a lot of opinions 😄.
But I'm glad I listen to her though.
Because the pink paint elevated the whole look of the room.

Vintage Lucite Chair
I almost tripped over my own foot in excitement.
When I found this amazing vintage lucite chair at the antique mall.
After some quick on-the-spot research on my phone.
This amazing lucite chair is vintage {1960's} made by Hill Manufacturing Co.
A $1000 a chair! Yikes!
Then I found this picture on Lonny showing the chair in a little girls' bedroom upholstered in a fun yellow fabric.
I was sold!
Lucite Office Chair Makeover
You can see the complete chair makeover HERE
Wait.
Did I mention that I already purchased the ghost chair pictured in my inspiration board last weekend? 🥴
Yep. We did. Definitely going to return it now.
The ghost chair's thin acrylic frame doesn't even compare to the quality of the true vintage lucite chair.
As part of my process for any room makeover, is decluttering.
I was pleasantly surprised Kayla didn't have a hard time letting go of some of her toys and games.
Barbie Organization Ideas Using Over The Door Shoe Rack
We started by purging and organizing Kayla's Barbies. She has a lot of them.
So figuring out a realistic and budget-friendly storage solution was at the top of my list.
Using this Barbie storage hack idea I saw on Pinterest ages ago.
We purchased an inexpensive over-the-door shoe holder to organize and store her Barbies.
In addition to organizing her Barbies.
We also purge a lot of the toys she doesn't play with anymore or has outgrown.
{By we, I mean me. Kayla was having an impromptu dress-up session at the time. 😆}
Next week will be a big week as the new tufted daybed will be going up.
Plus the upholstery for the window seat and chair.
Not to mention the rug and sconce will be delivered also!

Hi! Loved your detailed review on the paints- trying to decide between angelic and charming pink for my daughters room which does not get a lot of natural light. She vetoed the intimate white (which was my first choice too!), how do you think those two colors would fare for a room that gets some but not a lot of natural light and we would be mostly using lamps?
Jessica Tempest says
