Decorating with Blue and White Porcelain

If you've looked through this blog for any length of time or follow me on social media, it's clear that I have a thing for blue and white porcelain! I'm not only talking ginger jars, all shapes and sizes are welcome in my home!

I purchased my first blue and white piece {in the picture below} over 10 years ago. Although I frequently admired blue and white porcelain, I never purchased another piece until years later.

At the time I was in my 20's and in my mind blue and white pieces weren't for the homes of the young and cool like myself  {as if I was ever cool LOL} but for the traditional homes of people who were of a certain age {whispers behind hands "old people"}. I also believed aside from the rare exception like my small piece, that all blue and white pieces had to be an expensive antique.

Well, I couldn't have been more wrong!

That expensive and antique only thing, well throw that right out the window! While actual antique blue and white pieces can be pricey. Great looking reproductions are widely available online, thrift stores, and places like Ross Dress for Less and HomeGoods for very reasonable prices! Like this pair, I got at a second-hand sale for $20.

As I've gotten more mature in my "decorating journey" I've come to embrace my personal style and that includes loving blue and white porcelain.

I've had great success incorporating blue and white porcelain pieces into my home decor in a way that's very relaxed and youthful! And if you're so inclined you can too!

Ways to use blue and white porcelain decor:

Use them to hold plants and flowers.

This is my favorite way to utilize my blue and white pieces. I haven't come across any flowers or plants {real or faux} yet that looks bad in a blue and white container!

Or... Add them sparingly to your decor.

A small bowl like the one below would also be great as a jewelry dish or a catchall for small knick knacks.

    Use them in the kitchen.

    Both pretty and functional!

Blue and white decor don't have to be regulated to just jars, vases, and bowls. You can find a variety of home decor pieces in blue and white.

Blue and white porcelain are a timeless classic and can be incorporated into many different decor styles. Plus, the graphic blue and white color plays nicely with other color schemes. So think about giving blue and white porcelain a try, as you can see you don't have to be old or stuffy to love them ?!

How about you friends, do you decorate with blue and white? I would love to hear about it in the comments below!

Thanks for stopping by, until next time!

You have such a beautiful collection Linda! Blue and white is such a timeless combination! They are all really pretty, but I think my favorite is the umbrella stand! I think it's really unique.
