All you need is 1 tool and a fake pumpkin to easily create this versatile DIY faux pumpkin vase!
My 2 rule of thumbs for seasonal decor is that it should be cheap and easy! {This only applies to seasonal decor ok hehe}.
This super easy DIY faux pumpkin vase project is both of those things and lets you display any greenery and flowers that you like in a fun and unique way.
Not to mention you can use it over and over!
Check out the video below for the tutorial and see me use the one tool that will make cutting your faux pumpkins a piece of cake!

While you can do this project with real pumpkins.
I'm going, to be honest with you... I truly did not want to deal with the mess of carving and cleaning out a real pumpkin.
I found these amazing carvable faux pumpkins from Target and I knew immediately upon reading the words 'carvable' that it would be perfect for this project!
While these carvable faux pumpkins will be easier to carve than let's say a traditional fake decorative pumpkin. It will still take some elbow grease.
That is unless you have a hot knife!
A hot what now?! You may be asking.
A lovely salesperson at Michael's told me about this hidden gem and it's been a game changer for projects like this!
The hot knife literally goes through the styrofoam like a hot knife through butter.
Easy DIY Faux Pumpkin Vase
The best part of this project is you can use any kind of greenery or flowers you want, real or fake.
In the video, I also show you how great Ikea's inexpensive artificial plants look in this DIY faux pumpkin vase.
Using real flowers is great too. Just be sure to get a vase or jar that will fit the opening of the pumpkin.
I got the vase I showed you in the video from the Dollar Tree but a mason jar, or even a drinking glass will also work.
Supplies:
- Hot Knife
- Faux pumpkins
- Flowers or greenery of your choice

Now tell me, wasn't that easy!
See what I was telling you about the hot knife! I had those pumpkins open in just a few minutes. No muss no fuss.
Now that you have your faux pumpkins open, you can go crazy with what you put in it since they are hollow inside.
I went with a fun and wild bouquet of flowers that included a beautiful ornamental kale from Trader Joes in the big faux pumpkin vase.
As seen in the video I used the small faux pumpkin as a planter by sitting a real succulent plant in it. I hid the rim and dirt with some reindeer moss. {I also show you how to do this in the video}.
