    Easy DIY Kitchen Herb Garden

Hey friends! So sometimes it's really the little things in life that bring us joy.

For example, when we moved into this house almost 3 months ago one of the things I was so thrilled about is our kitchen windows were deep enough to have a little windowsill kitchen herb garden.

Ok, so you guys know I'm not known for my green thumb. However, I still love having plants in my house.

Also, come on you can't have a big sunny windowsill like this and not at least try, right?

I found the Rae Dunn herb pots at HomeGoods within days of moving into this new home, when I wasn't even looking {I took that as a sign}.

These pots have been sitting empty on my windowsill for almost 3 months now. And since spring is pretty much here in the south, I thought it was a perfect time to start my kitchen herb garden.

As far as potting the herbs it was pretty straightforward.

I gathered my supplies. Pots, potting soil, pebbles {optional}, and herb plant starters.

As an aside, the pink plant mister is just there to be cute {snickers}. It's one of my favorite Target One Spot finds this season along with the floral trowel.

    I'm almost ashamed to say everything in this photo is from Target's One Spot {that section is like kryptonite y'all!}

    planting an herb garden

Ok, back to the herb pots. I got these herb starters from Home Depot. They come in a cool biodegradable pot and you can just plant them as is.

They were a tad too big for the pots I have, so I just simply peeled them off.

I added a small scoop of dirt to the bottom of the pot before placing the herbs in. Then I filled any gaps with more soil, before giving them a nice drink of water.

If your pot doesn’t have a drainage hole. I would recommend adding some pebbles to the bottom of the for proper drainage before adding the soil.

And... Just that easy you have a simple and cute kitchen herb garden. I just love the idea of having fresh herbs right at my fingertips when cooking!

Alright, I hope you enjoyed this post! Until next time, I'm going to strive to keep this small kitchen herb garden alive {wish me luck }.

I would love to know if you've ever had or wanted an indoor herb garden?

Thanks for stopping by, see you next time.

Katrin, I'm happy to hear that. They bring a smile to a face everytime I'm at the sink. That mister was a steal for $3!
