And we're off friends!
If you missed it last week, I shared all the house projects I plan on tackling in 2022. And giving our entryway a refresh was the perfect project to ease my way into the groove of starting {and actually finishing} house projects again.
I'm thrilled to share this entryway refresh with you over the next two weeks. To show you how you can refresh and renew your home just by updating the decor like I will be doing in this project.

Now currently my entry does not look bad, but it still doesn't quite have the vibe I want either.
I mean this space has come a long way from the red door with the peel and stick stained glass that was here when we first moved in 2018.
You can see a video tour of the whole house before we moved in HERE to get a better sense of the space.
Entryway Evolution
While painting the red front door was a no-brainer for me. The overall decor fluctuated quite a bit.
Some updates I shared here on the blog. Like this post on my beloved vintage lamps, I found years apart.
And others I did not. Like when I switched out our old mirror and upholstered bench.
Entryway Refresh Plans & Mood Board
Here's my vision for the entryway. I'm working around all the big pieces that are already there.
- Table
- Bench
- Mirror
Lamps (DONE)
I've had my current vintage glass lamps in the entry for close to 4 years now. And I would like to switch them out for something that provides a bit more contrast.
The rustic and weathered look of the big ceramic and stone lamps that are very popular right now is exactly the kind of lamps I want.
If you follow me on Instagram you already know I thrifted an amazing pair of stone lamps that I will DIY to get the "found look". You can see them in my 'Thrifting' highlights on Instagram.
Rugs-
I could never quite find the right rug(s) for this area. And let me tell you I’ve tried!
The fact is the same indoor/outdoor rug from our old porch is still in this entryway 4 years later is truly tragic.
While a long vintage runner would be my choice in an ideal world. Functionally we need 2 rugs. Not to mention I don't have vintage rug money.
To get the vintage look on a budget I'm going with 2 Loloi rugs. A 4X6 to go in front of the garage door and a matching but smaller 3x5 rug for the front door.
Paint-
Both the front and garage door leads into this space. So I have no idea why I didn’t also paint the white door leading from the garage when I painted the front door. It's crazy to me too.
But we’re going to finally fix that by painting the door leading from the garage Sherwin Williams Iron Ore to match the front door.
Decor and Accessories -
I don't plan to buy too many decor items for the entry. I will shop my house first, and fill in where I need to. A pair of new baskets and new pillows for the bench are on the list though.
Artwork-
Another decor item I've had up basically since we moved here is the wall baskets over the bench.
This time I'm opting for a simple but impactful 6 frames collage. To keep the cost of this refresh as low as possible. I plan to create printable art using public domain images {of course I will add them to the printables library}.
The only thing I'm not sold on yet is the color of the frames. Black was my first choice but I'm not sure I want black frames over the black bench. So now I'm thinking of light wood or maybe gold frames? I don't know yet.
I can’t wait for this entryway refresh to come together!
Let me know friends, do you have any house projects you’re starting for the new year? What are your thoughts on the picture frames, should I go with black?
