Hey friends! Today I'm excited to be participating for the first time in a monthly series called Inspired by DIY, organized by Jess of Domicile 37.
Each month we take inspiration from a different creative source {stores, designers, etc...}, and make a DIY inspired by them.

This month’s inspiration is director Wes Anderson.
He is known for his campy and visually interesting movies. Such as The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Moonrise Kingdom.
DIY Pottery Barn Inspired Pinboard
I was inspired by Wes Anderson's whimsical use of color when updating my daughter's gallery wall.
I used the 2017 Paradise Garden calendar from Rifle Paper that you might remember me mentioning in a Friday Five + 1 post {making a comeback this Friday} back in August. Since then I've been waiting for the perfect project to use it in. Each month has a pretty and colorful illustration just perfect for framing.
Updating the gallery wall was easy as pie! I just cropped the pictures of my choice and pop them into the existing frames.
One of my very very favorite visuals from a Wes Anderson film is the exterior photo of The Grand Budapest Hotel. The ombré like pink treatment is just amazing!
Kayla's room is painted a very similar pink, Angelic by Sherwin Williams.
My favorite part elements in his films are his interiors. I'm always captivated by his use of wall treatments. They usually have a very saturated color or a fun and quirky wallpaper.
These prints from Rifle paper give me the same vibe. I can imagine a room in one of his movies wallpapered in this Rifle Paper print with a slightly gaudy vintage sofa in front of it :).
The curated and quirky{This is my third time using this word, but it's really just the perfect word to describe Wes's style} feel of the decor on his sets also inspired me to style Kayla's desk with some pieces I've collected over the years.
I got this small mirror from an estate sale for $2. There a made in Italy sign on the back, which makes me wonder about the life of this little mirror.
The metal has tarnished, so I might use my favorite gold spray paint to give it a facelift.
This little $5 vintage elephant is one of my favorite thrifted finds.
The A Little Princess book is also illustrated by Rifle Paper. I got it from Anthropologie a few years ago, but they no longer carry it. However, you can still get it on Rifle Paper's official website.
All right friends make sure to check out the other seriously amazing DIY's and room inspirations, from the other talented bloggers who are also inspired by Wes Anderson.
