Happy New Years everyone! With lots of projects big and small on my to-do list for 2019. I'm hitting the ground running with my first project of the year, a refresh of my daughter's room for the $100 Room Challenge hosted by Erin from Lemons Lavender & Laundry.
This will be my third time participating in this challenge. And it is a challenge, but one that's doable and makes me feel better about being a slight hoarder LOL.
My first time participating I did our loft bonus room area.

And last January after we just moved into our new house. I created a mudroom space out of a closet since we did not have one in this new house.

This time around I'm tackling my daughter's bedroom. Both my son and daughter's room are on my list of projects this year.
However, I'm doing my daughter's room first because it's a hot mess!
You see my daughter is a creative and we love that about her and encourage her to explore and push her creativity as much as possible.
But that has resulted in a lot of crafting supplies. Markers, crayons, papers, glitter, paints, glue, pencils, ribbons, pipe cleaners, beads, and the list goes on and on.
On top of that, her room is about half the size of her previous room with pretty much the same amount of stuff in it.
Including a giant Barbie house and American Girl dolls and accessories {none of which she plays with anymore}.
Girls Room Refresh Plans
So here are my goals for this girl's room refresh.
- Declutter and purge toys she no longer plays with
- Come up with better organization for crafting and art supplies
- Rearrange furniture
- Update her "girl cave" area under her bunk bed
- And of course, make it pretty with some art prints, accessories, and new bedding!
I have to say I've felt super guilty the last few months seeing Kayla's room like this.
Before we moved here last year her room was big, bright, and beautiful. You can see that makeover reveal HERE.
She often says she misses her old room. So my goal is to make this room a space she loves as much as her old room!
Each week for the month of January I will be sharing updated posts until the reveal, so make sure to check back!
Now go see what the other $100 room challenge participants will be working on!
Erin- Lemons, Lavender, & Laundry says
Secretly... I really wanted to do my daughter's room this round too. Your daughter and mine are two peas in a pod. Creatives that have a lot of stuff! However, ALL my kids need room makeovers so we drew names, and hers was not the winner. I'm excited to see what you do so I can get inspiration for when we tackle my daughter's room. (And just like your daughter, she misses her old room too 🙁 ).

Giving our children a space of their own that they love is a must for all mothers. What a treat for Kayla to have her room come first! I can't wait to see how you organize all her art supplies- maybe it can help me too!

Jackie, I agree if it's in our power I think it's important to give kids their own space!
