Impress your guests this holiday season when you fake it and don't bake it with these 2 super easy grocery cake makeover!
During the holiday season, the'res a huge focus on baking, baking, and more baking.
However, not all of us {me} excel in this area. So I’m gonna show you how to fake it and don't bake it with these two grocery cake makeover.
Grocery Cake Makeover {Holiday Edition}
Cake 1 | Bundt Cake
Now bunt cakes come in all kinds of flavors. My very favorite is the 7-Up version. And while they are delicious, when you bring one home it's pretty plain looking.
But you can easily dress up a bundt cake for any holiday occasion in about 10-15 minutes!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Bundt cake
sugared cranberries and rosemary sprigs {get the recipe HERE}
Pretty cake stand
DIRECTIONS:
Carefully place your cake on the cake stand. Start by placing the sugared rosemary sprigs first and then gently place the cranberries around the rosemary sprigs. Lightly pressing the sugared cranberries into the cake so it sticks to the frosting. It doesn’t have to be perfect just do what looks good to you. If you have room on your cake stand, sprinkle some sugared cranberries around the base of the cake too.
And that's all there is to it! With the simple addition of some sweet and tangy sugared cranberries and rosemary sprigs.

Cake 2 | Plain Cake
When you look at a cake display at a grocery store, you’ll almost never see a plain cake.
But you know what? You can always ask for a plain cake. I know shocker right LOL?! That’s how I achieved my brunch white flower cake.
But since it’s the holidays, let’s take a look at how you can turn a plain white grocery store cake into something that's festive and delicious.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Plain white cake
Dried orange slices. See how to easily dry them in the oven HERE.
Sugared rosemary sprigs {get the recipe HERE}
Pretty cake stand
DIRECTIONS:
A plain white cake is like a blank canvas and your imagination is the limit. For this cake, I took some dried orange slices that I cut in half, sugared rosemary sprigs, and cinnamon sticks and just organically placed them on the top of the cake. Gently pushing them into the cake to help them stay upright.
Next, I used a cake stand that has a higher side to help keep the oranges around the base of the cake in place. And you're done!

By the way, if I'm bringing any food to a party or get together I always give the host/hostess a general description of the dish and let them know if I cooked it or not. So in short, yes I do disclose that it's a grocery store cake. To date, no one has ever cared.
So whether you are short on time this busy holiday season or your baking skills are limited {like mine} remember you can fake it, and don't bake it with a grocery cake makeover!
I would love to know if you've ever tried a grocery store cake makeover? If not, is it something you would consider?
