Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday weekend. It was awesome getting our screened-in porch all spruced up right in time to enjoy it this holiday weekend with the family!
I'm excited to share with you today just how I gave our winter-worn screened-in porch a bright and fresh yet inexpensive makeover right in time for summer! {sources and cost break down at the end of this post}!
It never ceases to amaze me what a difference just bringing in a few new pieces {and of course shopping your home too} can do for a space! Seriously this was not a major overhaul, just working with what I had and layering in some new accessories!
Now that the kids are out of school, it is the {unofficial} official start of summer for us! Which means lots of hanging out outside on our screened-in porch. The kids practically lived out there last summer!
We basically treat our screened-in porch as an outdoor family room during the warmer months, so I wanted it to feel homey and comfortable, which required a little makeover.
Here's what I did to freshen up our neglected screened in porch...
I started out by deep cleaning the porch, which went a long way in making the end results that much nicer. Best of all, it didn't cost a thing!
As always my mini-me was right by my side, helping out. I just love her!
Once the cleaning was done it was time to make it pretty!
Aside from the occasional tables I purchased {more on that later}, I reused all the furniture that was already there. Helping keep this makeover on the cheap because I only added accessories to give this space a fresh new look!
Our table is really old and not in the best condition, so the first thing I purchased was a tablecloth. I love its blue, turquoise, and white color scheme {shocker right}!
I used varying shades of blue throughout to keep the look cohesive but not too matchy-matchy. I also added a touch of green to tie in with the seating area that's outside the screened-in porch.
This utility cart from Ikea helps keep the kid's outdoor playthings organized and tidy when they're not using them.
The top shelf works great as a serving station, which leaves the table clear for other things like eating and playing games.
Non-breakable dishes make outdoor entertaining so much easier! These cute plates and cups are from Target's One Spot. The colors were spot on {I can be so corny y'all LOL}!
If you follow me on Instagram you'll recognize the swan planter I thrifted for a few dollars back in October.
In addition to the tablecloth and dishes, I also purchased a new rug, two small occasional tables, and of course some pillows.
After using our green gardening stools as tables all last year, it was clear we needed something that had a bit more surface space. These faux wicker tables fit the bill perfectly. They are lightweight, easy to clean, and look surprisingly good considering their $8.99 price tag!
These tables can even double as seating as we learned when we had guests over recently and ran out of chairs. My husband grabbed one and sat on it most of the evening and it's none the worse for wear.
Adding an outdoor rug makes the porch that much more cozy and adds another fun pop of color!
Just about all my plants {except the fiddle leaf fig} came from Walmart's garden center and was very reasonably priced!
Outdoor string lights are a must for when the sun goes down!
Thank you for visiting! Wishing everyone a wonderful summer full of lazy days on the porch!
