Inspiration
You guys know I love my neutrals but lately, I've been craving more color in my decor. So my design inspiration for this makeover is this bright and beautiful room designed by Amanda Louise Interiors.
If this room seems familiar, it's because I shared it with you guys back in the fall in one of my Friday Five posts.
I was smitten with this room the moment I saw it. It's the perfect blend of neutrals and bold colors.

Living Room & Dining Room Design Plans
Just like with my master bedroom ORC makeover, my jumping off point for this design direction is the beautiful {and affordable} blue floral rug. From there it was easy to come up with this colorful color palette of blues, orange, warm gold, and a touch of green.
Although I’m using a lot of bright colors in this design plan. I've kept all the big pieces, like the upholstery and paint color neutral.
That way when the mood strikes I can get a whole new look by simply swapping out the accessories {pillows, curtains, etc...}
Since I'm working with a real-world budget for this makeover, my goal is to incorporate what I already own as much as possible in this update.
All the big pieces for the dining room {table, chairs, cabinets} I already own. So the only major purchase will be the lighting fixture.
I'm also planning to tackle one and a possible DIY project for this space.
I will be painting the pair of vintage bamboo cane chairs I scored for $80 2 years ago and creating some cushions for them.
I also have a vintage bamboo cabinet I scored a few weeks, that will also live in the dining room.
My first instinct was to paint it white but the warm wood color has grown on me. So I'm still on the fence about painting it. I need to decide soon though, this will not be a quick paint job.
Now the living room portion of this update is completely the opposite of the dining room because I'm basically starting from scratch. Although I do already own the shelf, and I'm using the lucite coffee table that's currently in my family room.
The big purchases in this space will be the sofa and armchair. I had my heart set on the Ikea Farlov sofa. But, it was too big, which left me scrambling trying to find a replacement at a similar price point and starting fresh with the living room design plan.
I decided on World Market's Shelton sofa.
I was able to see it in person at my local store, and it definitely fits the bill. Soft color, beautiful English roll arm style {a timeless classic}, and of course the amazing price point.
The Oscar wingback chair from World Market is also coming to live with us. Although it wasn't my first choice.
I originally ordered the navy blue Delancey petite wingback armchair from Pottery Barn. While I needed an armchair that was on the smaller size, it was much too small for my taste so I had to return it.
You can see how big a 22x22 pillow looks on it. The size is perfect for a kids/teen room though.
So the original sofa I wanted was too big and the first chair I ordered was too small, here's hoping the new sofa and chair will be just right when I finally get them in the space.
Check back next week for more updates!

I'm just catching up on the weeks.. I've been out of the loop for couple weeks.. (my bad).. but your pieces you have for the space are wonderful.. You have such great taste in picking out things. The china cabinet and chairs are WIN-WIN!! I'm hoping you don't paint the cabinet...(however, if you choose - it would look just as great.. excellent score with that) I feel you on the blue chair.. actually it didn't do much for the space.. I think judging by your impeccable taste you'd find a much better suite.

I love all of your selections. The multi-color muted rug is gorgeous and it's in my shopping cart to consider for my living room. If I may weigh in with my two cents, I think painting the bamboo chairs would be fine but as much as I do like painted furniture and am by no means one of those "purists" who say never paint furniture, I Really love the Bamboo cabinet just as it is. It is Beautiful. I would not paint it.
