Living Room and Dining Room DIY's - ORC Week 4

    Hello hello, friends!

It's week 4 of the One Room Challenge {ORC} where I'm updating our living room and dining room in our new home.

I'm slightly panicked because I did not make as much progress as I hoped to this week because both my son and I have been sick this past week, and I'm currently medicated and bundled under 2 blankets writing this post.

Like I shared in week 3 on the top of my to-do list was finalizing the window treatments.

If you remember the original design board I shared had white curtains.

My plans were to add some pretty trim to Ikea curtains to get a look similar to this.

Well, I did not realize trim was so  EXPENSIVE!

The one I had my heart set on was $12 a yard at my local fabric store and I needed about 6-8 yards for each pair of curtains since I wanted the trim on both side of the curtains.

That's almost $200 just for the trim.

    uhhh no.

Instead, I decided to with these beautiful blue and white curtain. Clearly, I'm not shying away from print and color for this update.

They should be here on Monday, so I will share how they look all hung up in next weeks update.

Speaking of hanging up, I'm so excited about these lucite curtain rods I scored at HomeGoods for $40 each back in January {an absolute steal!!!}.

    Silver Lucite curtain rods

The only problem was that they came in a silver finish and I wanted them gold.

Nothing my go to gold spray paint can't handle.

I simply wrapped the rods in plastic drop cloth using painters tape, leaving the silver ends out.

A few hits of Rustoleum bright gold spray paint and were in business!

With being sick and hubby in Jamaica on a business trip {yes I'm a little jealous} I was not able to hang the curtains rods this week.

I also used the same gold spray paint on these inexpensive curtain clips so they match the now gold lucite curtain rods.

I also started a few other makeovers including painting these thrifted ginger jars white so they look more uniform.

You might recognize the pink one from my Master bedroom ORC reveal.

One of the faux bamboo chairs got a coat of primer but that's as far as I got before this cold reared its ugly head.

Although it's just primer if you squint really hard you can see the potential LOL.

I will be picking up the custom cushions and the other bamboo chair this Friday from the upholsters and hopefully have both of them done by next week.

Oh, and I got all the pillows!

    It's a pillow palooza.

Week 5 to do list :

    ~Finish painting bamboo chairs

    ~Hang window hardware and curtains

~Finish pulling together accessories for styling

    ~Finalize artwork

    ~Keep looking for a small wood side table {who knew this would be so hard to find!}

Join me next week for another round of updates!

Thanks for stopping by friends! Don't forget to check out the other Guest Participants week 4 progress.
