Hey friends! Today's update is going to be a quick one. Instead of sharing progress shots of the loft. I'm sharing what I like to call my plans for the loft take two {sigh}.
So here's the thing. I was going over the plans for the loft update with hubby. He brought up some very valid points that made me rethink the plans I shared last week.
The fact is when it's all said and done my son will probably use this space the most.
When my daughter's friends come over they mostly play in her room since that's where the majority of her toys are.
On the flip side, my son and his friends are all about the video games and iPads when they come over. And where are the video games? You guessed it, the loft.
Given that fact I think the decor direction I shared with you in week 1 is a bit too feminine. Specifically the artwork and pillows.
I was so focused on using this painting because it's been in my closet since last spring, I did not stop to consider if it worked for the space.
Plus I plan on moving my workspace soon. So it makes even more sense to give this space a more neutral look.
The great thing is not all the changes I shared last week for the loft have been scrapped. Here is my new plan for the loft.

You know sometimes these the hiccups that happen when updating a space can be a blessing in disguise. In this case, I love the new plans so much more for our loft bonus room {as does the kids and hubby}.
Here are my plans for the coming week.
- Take photos of kids and send to the printer
- Source some inexpensive frames {these are the times when I'm sad that Ikea is 2 hours away}
- Touch up walls
- Hang up shelves
- Declutter
Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5

Your new plan is AWEsome! I love the black and white scheme and the kids' photographs are going to be perfect. Your son is going to love hanging out there with his buddies. I can't wait to see how your space comes together.
Linda P. says
Thanks Ashley! Funny thing is my son said almost exactly the same thing when I showed him the new plans "I'm going to love hanging with my buddies here now" LOL.

Looks awesome, I see how your initial plans might be too feminine for the boys, but I love that artwork 🙂

Thanks Brittany! Yeah I'm so glad I spoke to hubby about it. I definitely had tunnel vision 🙈
