Hey friends! I'm so excited to share with you guys the $100 room challenge loft bonus room refresh reveal!
The $100 Room Challenge was a fun chance to update this space that was no longer functional for our family.
This is what our loft bonus room look like when we first started this challenge.
With a few new items, and mostly shopping my home.
Here is what our loft bonus room looks like today.
I have to admit the room did not turn out the why I initially imagined.
The process was very organic which left me with a space that not only I love, but the whole family loves.
In week 2 hubby basically pointed out I wanted to use pink and mint accents for a space our son will mostly use 😶.
So I used engineering prints of the kids instead of the abstract art that I shared in week 1.
I love the personal touch they add to the loft for just a few dollars. You can get my tips for engineering prints in week 3.
The kids also had their say {like Kayla telling me the black and white pillows were boring 😂}.
So we went with some pillows that were a bit more fun and colorful. This is the one time being a pillow hoarder came in handy LOL.
One of the things that did stay true to the original decor plans is the fantastic bamboo table I thrifted. that got a fresh coat of blue paint.
It provides the perfect amount of storage without being too bulky like the previous Ikea piece I had in that spot.
Funny enough one of the things that's made the biggest difference in the loft is something that's no longer there. The big round table.
I wish I had gotten rid of it a year ago, because without it the loft feels so much bigger.
A small leather top Nate Berkus table from Target is perfect for holding snacks and such, without taking up valuable floor space.
A pair of lightweight faux leather ottomans also works great as extra seating, a footstool, or even a table.
Once I move my "office" elsewhere in the house, the kids will have the desk to do for homework, writing, drawing etc.
Also, the only new thing on this wall are the shelves. Everything else I already owned.
Aren't faux succulents the best! All the pretty greenery and none of the accidental plant deaths ha!
The loft is really small so I really wanted to avoid using unnecessary knickknacks and decor pieces {and also to stay on a budget 😄}.
So I choose to display everyday items in a more decorative way.
A pretty bow filled with crayons.
Game pieces placed in glass containers and books all add colorful and pretty touches but are still useful.
This little caddy is one of my favorite additions to the loft and only cost me $4 and a little bit of spray paint left over from the table makeover.
The white pails were a $1 each at Target. I simply place them in a thrifted brass caddy that I spray painted navy.
Once the loft was done, I surprised the kids with a small after school upstairs. I snapped some a photos while they were doing their thing.
I think it's safe to say they like the new changes. However, I'm not sure how much longer it will look like it does in the pictures above 😂.
A huge thank you to Erin from Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry for hosting this awesome challenge! It's really eye-opening to see how much you can change a space using mostly things you already own!
