Can I tell you how happy I am to be sharing this master bedroom update with you today!
Not because of how the room looks {although, I'm happy about that too}, but because writing this post means our master bedroom is no longer haphazardly thrown together with moving boxes lining the wall.
So confession time. Since we moved into this house at the very end of December our master bedroom has been a hot mess!
Seriously, I showed our master bedroom no love! The whole room was in a state of disarray. Moving Boxes were everywhere and plenty of random furniture looking for a home.
I wasn't even making up the bed {which is so not like me!}.
This photo is actually not that bad compared to what this room actually looked like when hubby and I finally tackled it.
Master Bedroom Update
The main reason we did NOTHING to this room until now is I just couldn’t figure out the best furniture placement due to the awkward shape of the room, the large size, and not to mention the funky window placements.
You can get a better sense of our master bedroom in the new home video tour over I shared here.
My husband and I finally tackled the room weekend before last. Ok most of the room, the other side is still a work in progress.
But. It's a huge improvement.
The first thing we did was move the bed. I love the symmetry having a window on either side of the bed creates.
When the bed was on the wall where we currently have our dresser, there was only a window on one side of the bed.
The big difference you might notice from our old bedroom is the rug. I decided to use the blue gray rug that was in my old office versus the colorful vintage rug that I had in our bedroom previously.
I just really wanted the room to just feel a bit lighter.
Some other pieces like the X benches from our old living room and my 2 faux fiddle leaf fig from the entry also made their way in here.
We placed our vintage campaign dresser {one of these days I have to write a post on that makeover} on the wall that the bed was previously on.
It feels so much more cohesive than when the dresser was all the way on the other side of the room, making hard to watch TV in bed.
To finish off this side of the room we have a little seating area with my new favorite pillow from Pottery Barn {on sale right now} right next to the campaign dresser.
Like I said earlier I'm super happy to have this room mostly done. But, the other side still needs a little TLC.
The two armchairs from my old office are perfect for creating a cozy sitting area on this side of the room.
My small writing desk/vanity is will be on this side of the master bedroom as well. Which I’m currently using as my office space because our guest bedroom/office is basically just filled to the brim with boxes right now.
After weeks of frustration trying to figure out the furniture layout, I'm so happy with how the bedroom looks and feels now.
Thanks for stopping by today friends, see you next time!

Linda it's gorgeous and I am stunned by what a big a bright room this is. You really made it look amazing. Those stools infront of the bed are awesome...
