    Mudroom In A Closet - $100 Room Makeover

    Happy New Year friends! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season. I'm excited to be participating in another $100 Room Challenge where going to create a mudroom in a closet!

    This is my second time participating in the $100 Room Challenge. The last time I made over our loft bonus room.

    The challenge is hosted by Erin from Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry, and it's exactly as it sounds. I along with all the other participating bloggers {check them out at the end of this post} have 1 month to makeover any space in our home using only $100. Of course, we can also use what we already have on hand.

    Week 1 | Week 2 |  Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 {Reveal}

    $100 Room Challenge Logo

    So my family and I just moved to a new city less than a week ago. However, unlike our old house, this new home does not have a mudroom.

    This our new entryway {this space will also get a makeover at some point including painting that red door}. You can see a peek of the garage door to the left. So this space will serve as the main entry for our family and guests.

    Entryway with red door

    This is where the mudroom in a closet idea comes into play because frankly, I don't want an entryway that is littered with shoes, coats, bookbags, etc...

    So here is the plan. Right around the corner from the garage door, we have a decent size coat closet that's 3 feet wide and 3 ¾ feet long. Not huge, but big enough to make it a functional "mudroom" {I think LOL}.

    There are just pipes behind that little door, so it's nothing that we would need to access frequently if at all.

    I plan to reuse a lot of the pieces I had in our previous mudroom. Including our Ikea shoe cabinet {crossing my fingers it fits}, the mirror, decor items, and baskets.

    On one wall I will have the Ikea shoe cabinet. This cabinet is super slim only 8 ⅝ " deep! So there should still be plenty of room to stand in there. I will also reuse the round mirror over the shoe cabinet so we can do a quick check before running out the door.

    The wall baskets will be for things like glasses, keys, mail, and such. More baskets will go on the existing shelf to hold out of season things like scarves, hats, gloves, etc...

    On the other wall, I will place two rows of hooks. One lower for the kid's coats, hats, and bookbags. The higher hooks will be for my husband and I or guests.

    Well, that’s it friends. What do you think? Am I crazy for thinking this will work?

    Honestly, I just eyeballed this space and thought sure this can be a mudroom LOL, no planning whatsoever. So we'll find out how and if this space comes together at the same time!

    Thanks for stopping by, see you next time! Be sure to check below for all the talented bloggers also participating in the challenge!

      I cannot believe you are taking on this challenge after just moving... less than a week ago! That is dedication. Love your idea for this space because I agree that having nowhere for coats and backpacks would mean a huge pile on the floor... I mean, we HAVE a mudroom and still have piles on the floor 🙂
