    Our New Home: The Before Tour {Video}

Hey friends! Whew, what a crazy few weeks it's been. And, I'm not talking about the holidays {which was almost nonexistent for our family}. I'm talking about this crazy 4-week whirlwind move from Tennesse to Atlanta I told you about in this post.

With so many moves under our belt, hubby and I know the "feeling" when we find the house that is meant for our family. This house was it!

House with brick and red door

It was a bit of a bumpy road to here {isnt it always LOL}. The tears, moments of frustration, sickness, and the fear of not finding a home that worked for us in the small 4-week window we had. But in the end, as it always seems to do, everything came together. Thank goodness we are renting, making the process much quicker and less involved.

This house just really felt good from the moment we stepped in. Plus it met our top two criteria's. Amazing schools and a family-friendly/playable neighborhood for Jaden and Kayla. Now that we have moved and been here just a bit over a week, I know for a fact we made the right choice!

    {Sidenote, although I'm not known for my green thumb. I can't wait to plant some pretty flowers out here.}

    Exterior porch

Ok so let's go inside. Keep in mind these are the MLS photos, but I also have a video tour as well at the end of this post!

You guys I have so many ideas swirling in my head right now for this house I can barely contain myself {but no worry's my wallet will keep me in check LOL}.

Actually, I'm already tackling my first project. Since we don't have a mudroom. I'm turning our coat closet into a mudroom closet for the $100 Room Challenge.

    Entry

The entry despite the red door and "stain glass" stickers is one of my favorite spaces in the house. It's two stories {although you can't see it here} with a large arched window that just floods light into this space. Making it feel light and airy.

That same light and airy feeling set the tone for this house the minute I walked in. I'm leaning towards a more simplistic {this is me refusing to use the word minimalist hehe} approach to decorating this house.

One of the first things I want to tackle is the door. The faux stain glass sticker things have also got to go. Unfortunately my fave, the Everett table is too big for this space. I'm thinking I may do a bench instead...

    Formal living and dining room

Directly to the left of the entry is a formal living/sitting room and a formal dining room. It's been a long time since I've had a formal living room and I'm really looking forward to making a pretty loungy space {that's not at all formal}.

The living room is not a big space, so it won't take a lot to make it look good. Flowly curtains, a pretty rug, a nice sofa, and some pretty decor are all this room needs to be fabulous.

As far as the dining room, I'm just happy I don't have to turn it into an office space again since I have a dedicated office space in this house.

The chandelier is the only thing I plan on changing.

    Kitchen/Breakfast Nook

One of the things I was really hoping for with this move was a white kitchen {clearly, that did not happen}. This kitchen still does have some nice upgrades though! Like the undermount kitchen sink, granite, and stone backsplash. The gas stove is also something I was very happy about.

The breakfast nook is a great size with room for my coffee bar! Just like the dining room, I also plan to update the light the fixture.

    Family Room

Right across from the breakfast nook is my other favorite space in the house, the family room. Love the fireplace and this will definitely be the room we spend most of our time in.

Our existing living room furniture will work great in this space! The layout will be identical to our last house with the sectional facing the fireplace and TV that will be between the two windows.

    Powder Room

Rounding out the first floor is the powder room. I adore this petite scalloped pedestal sink, but it doesn't have much room for necessities. So I'm thinking to add a tiny table or cabinet and possibly swapping out the mirror.

    Upstairs

Let's head upstairs. Although this is not a room. The landing {you can see it better in the video below} is really a nice size. Perfect for a cozy sitting area. You can also see the entry from here.

    Master Bedroom

This room is much larger than our last master bedroom, but with a bit of weird shape. So I'm not sure about the final layout yet. However, it does have 5 windows which make this room so light and bright and I love that! {Although, these photos are not a good representation of that natural light}.

    Master Bath

Like I said in the video, this bathroom is not as upgraded as our previous master bath. And since we're renting I won't be doing much in here other than adding some decorative accessories.

    Office/Guest Room

In our last house, I turned our formal dining room into an office space. I'm really happy I can have both a formal dining room and a dedicated office this time around! There's also a full-size bathroom and a nice size closet. Not to mention how bright this room is, perfect for taking photos.

    Kids Bedroom/Bathroom

Both the kid's rooms are quite a bit smaller than our previous house, but still enough space for playing and hanging out. It was a trade-off we made for that 4th bedroom. They do have a jack and jill bathroom though, and they love it.

    Watch the Video Tour!

Alright friends, that's the end of the "before" tour.

I love this part of the process when decorating a new house you guys! I'm really looking forward to adding some personality room by room to this pretty, but builder grade home.

Of course, I will be sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly along the way with you!

    Thanks for stopping by today!
