Shinin', shinin', shinin', shinin', yeah (shinin', yeah) - Beyoncé
{if you know this song then you sang that like I did LOL}
I think this past week I might’ve broken my record for the most gold spray paint projects in one week!
It’s pretty obvious I love gold accents in my home.
So it should be no surprise my office guest bedroom will have its fair share of bling.
The biggest piece I gave the Midas touch to this week was my faux bamboo shelf. This dusty and neglected piece got some much needed TLC.
You can read about the vintage faux bamboo shelf makeover HERE.
While not as big, the curtain roads were way more complicated. Or it would’ve been if I didn’t come up with this good idea {if I do say so myself}.
I used this $7 mug rack from Walmart to hold the curtain rods upright. {Of course you already know this if you saw my Instagram stories 😉}
Being able to just spray these inexpensive curtain rods without worrying about turning them and messing up the paint job was priceless to me at the time.
Painting the finials was a bit more involved. With wrapping the glass end in a small plastic bag and using some painters tape to carefully seal it.
Overall the effort was well worth it! Now, these $17 curtains rods look very high end.
You will also know that I was toying with the idea of buying some cream velvet curtains for this room if you follow me on Instagram.
After giving it some thought, I decided to use some Ikea Ritva curtains I already had on hand. Although I’m thinking I might need to jazz them up a bit.
These cheap oval picture frames from Walmart wasn’t safe from my gold spray paint spree either LOL.
Ok, something that wasn’t so shiny is this Ikea table I got from their as-is section {a round of applause for that segue way hehe}.
Like I shared last week I've had a hard time getting my hands on the Docksta table.
Well, the One Room Challenge fairies must’ve been watching over me. Because while Ikea still doesn’t have any new ones in stock. I found one in the as-is section.
Talk about lucky right?! I shared the exact moment I found it in this weeks video update at the end of this post.
The pieces in the as-is section are always a little banged up because they are usually the floor models. Which is why there's usually a deep discount on them.
In this instance, I got 42% off the original price {yasss}. I do have to clean it up a bit, and I'm totally ok with that.
Oh, and we finally got the daybed set up {and by me I mean hubby LOL}, and the rug laid down.
I let out a huge sigh of relief once we had the daybed in place and realized the furniture layout a shared last week is, in fact, going to work.
I guess all of that measuring was worth it.
The top of the desk also got a nice coat of paint.
When the desk was in our loft room playroom in our previous house, it was Kayla's favorite spot to paint and color. Which is why it looks like a graffiti wall in the before photo.
All right, friends, that’s all I have for you this week.
Be sure to check out the video update which of course always have a little bit more fun and personality in it then the written version.
Now that all the smaller painting projects are done. Next week I can focus on getting the dresser painted, and finalizing the curtain details. Plus, I still need to do a bit more cleaning, ugh 😑.
