You guys. If you’ve been following along with me the last 6 weeks, you know this One Room Challenge reveal came down to the wire {like I just took these photos yesterday}! This was a real time makeover, meaning I had absolutely nothing done when I shared my initial plans in week 1!
However, the literal blood, sweat, and tears that went into this makeover was so worth it. I cannot believe this is our master bedroom! I literally want to pinch myself every time I walk in the room.
If this is your first time here, you can see my design plan and the ups and downs of my first ORC journey using the links below.
Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5
Here’s a reminder of what my master bedroom looked like when we started. Dark, dated, and honestly not a very restful place.
And this is what it looks like now. Light, bright, and vibrant! The rug was jumping off point for the rooms color scheme.
My absolute favorite piece in the room is the $50 thrifted campaign dresser I made over. I used the same blue/gray enamel paint that I used on my estate sale side table and well I’m in love! The color works beautifully with the rug!
You may remember this mirror from my living room. It was also a thrifted find for $15, that I made over with gold spray paint.
Another DIY I tackled was updating the nightstands I already had. This was by far the project that stressed me out to the point of tears, but man the results again was worth it!
The addition of the lucite and brass handles really added that special touch I was after.
The gold metal deer leg “stool” is actually a table I found at Target {link below}. The height and material made it a little perch for my new desk.
This vintage faux bamboo mirror is another one of my favorite pieces in the room. It was a $20 Craigslist find that was easily updated with some gold spray paint!
Of course no room tour is complete without a photo of Magnolia our cat. She manages with no help from to get into every photo shoot LOL.
You can also check out the video tour I did below:
I’m not going to lie, these last few weeks tested my resolve in such way that I almost gave up on this challenge. All the countless hours in my garage working on the nightstands and campaign dresser makeover, so many shopping trips that the cashiers at HomeGoods and I are on a first name basis {no lie!}, and lots of tears of frustration. I’m happy to say it was all worth it!
The room turned out so much better than I could have ever hoped! I’m so happy now that my husband and I have a beautiful master bedroom retreat that we can unwind and relax in after a long day!
Thank you to everyone who followed along and encouraged me along the way! A big thank you to Linda from Calling It Home for hosting this event. I’m certain my room would still look like the before pictures if it wasn’t for the ORC!

You did an amazing job. It’s so gorgeous and has so much character and personality- definitely worth the sweat and tears!!
WOW! I just love this space, it is so much brighter and cheerful and that gorgeous rug… how do I even begin on how much I love it in the room?!

Hello! I love this gorgeous room! i have a question about the curtains. In your pictures, they look like a light navy. The curtains in the link you provided (I know it says similar) look they have more teal/aqua/green in them than the ones you have in your room. Can you comment on this? I’m definitely looking for a light navy, a color pretty identical to what’s shown in your pictures. But i know lighting can vary and affect how color shows up. Thanks!
hi sarah, thanks so much! My curtains are not navy {although I wish they were}. I would say the color is closer to a dark teal. The Curtain in the link provided Is not navy either.
Here is a navy version HERE {affiliate link} —> http://bit.ly/2zACcwk
ok, thanks so much, I appreciate your help!
that dresser is Absolutely beautiful! Do you happen to know what brand and paint color that is?
thank you Anna! The paint is Rust-Oleum Protective Enamel paint in Gloss Smoke Gray {although it looks blue}. It’s the same one I used on this table

Linda you have a beautiful bedroom – we loved the lamps so much we shared on our Insta.
Hi Linda! Hope you are well. Just ran into your blog and love the design. Would you mind sharing what color the curtains are – i followed the link but the color looks like it has more green…
Very pretty room. So much brighter and full of personality! Thank you for sharing at The Crafty Corner link party, where I’ll be featuring it at the next party beginning on Wednesday. I hope to see you there again 🙂
The curtains! The campaign dresser and the pillows?
Excellent new look! I knew you could do it! The bench is fantastic and I love how you styled you side tables…
When I moved into my first place, my bedroom looked so similar to yours – lots of matching dark wood furniture. Did it used to be a thing, or did I just do it because it was easy?! In any case, you’ve brought your room to a whole new level!! I love your blue dresser, but then all the colorful accents really brighten up and make the room. Fabulous job!
I love, love love, the pops of coral that you have throughout the room! And, those bamboo mirrors and dresser are to die for! Awesome room! It looks well worth all your frustrations. Congrats on such a great makeover!
I love your “new” bedroom. It’s really, really pretty. Thanks for not giving up.
This space actually wan’t bad before, but you have made it shine! It looks gorgeous! I love every single choice you made here.

Oh my goodness, this is absolutely gorgeous! No wonder you were tired after the 6 weeks were up. You covered every little detail and the colors come together so well. I can’t get over your bargain hunting skills. Nobody would ever guess but those of us who love bargains always spill the beans. 🙂
Awww thanks so much Stacey! Lovers of bargains unite! ? I love sharing when I get a deal, to show you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a look you love in your home! ??
I was just scrolling through the before pictures, and then my eyes widened at that first after shot. Wow! That room looks completely different. And are you serious about that $50 campaign dresser!? Love the color. Beautiful job!
Erin, I almost knocked an old lady over to get to that campaign dresser {kidding…sorta ?}. Truth be told I have the same reaction every time I walk into my room. I can’t believe it’s my bedroom! I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to comment!

It’s absolutely beautiful Linda! That rug is amazing and I love the colors! Your campaign dresser was such a great find and it’s new color suits it well. Great job!
Thank you Darnetha! I went back-and-forth between painting the dresser white or this color and I’m glad I went with it! I think the white would’ve been too predictable. ?
