    Bedrooms, One Room Challenge

One Room Challenge {ORC} Week 1: Master Bedroom Plans

Hey friends! I have some exciting news to share. I'm joining in on the One Room Challenge for the first time!

The One Room Challenge {ORC} is a biannual event where 20 design bloggers are invited to completely makeover a space in 6 weeks. It is hosted by Linda from Calling It Home.

She has kindly let anyone with a blog who would like to participate join in as a guest participant {that's where I come in}.  All of the guest participants share a weekly progress update each Thursday leading up to the big reveal of the finished space.

You can check out all participants at the weekly link up at Linda's blog every Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope you follow along with me to see how my ORC master bedroom makeover comes together! The best way to stay updated is to sign up to my email list and get my new posts delivered right to your inbox. I promise, no spam ever!

downloadAlthough this is my first time joining in the ORC fun. I'm no stranger to making over spaces in a short period of time. I've completed both my daughters big girl bedroom and my son's big boy bedroom makeover in a similar challenge where we had 30 days to complete a space.

As I mentioned above I'm tackling our master bedroom for this challenge. It is by far the most neglected room in our home {insert heavy sigh}.

Here is what the room looks like today {covers face in embarrassment ?}. It's dark, dated, and just not the restful retreat we would like it to be.

Plus the furniture has seen better days. We purchased this matching bedroom set a few months before we got married - Well, we just celebrated our eleven year wedding anniversary two weeks ago {yeah it's that old}.

Sadly the giant {also as old as our marriage} TV has to come back, hubby is not going to budge on that.

Needless to say we are well overdue for an updated master bedroom that we can unwind in after a long day.

Below is the mood board showing the direction I'm heading in. For over a decade we've lived with dark cherry wood furniture, so now I want our bedroom to be light and bright with a youthful vibe.

By the way I'm doing this master bedroom makeover in real time. Other than sourcing a few pieces, I've done nothing at all yet {pray me for y'all}. Given that fact I'm not 100% sure what the final outcome will look like, but I hope it's as close as possible to the inspiration board.

There is so much to get done in these six short weeks, that I'm admittedly a bit nervous. However, I'm also excited to get started!

The kids have fall break next week so we are taking a road trip, but I still hope to cross a few things off my to do list.

    -List furniture for sale

    -Start decluttering

-Make final decision on paint color

    -Order bed and possibly chair

I will be posting progress updates every Thursday sharing the good, bad, and the ugly. I would love to have you follow along with me, it'll be a lot of fun! I will also post behind the scenes and progress pictures on Instagram.

Don't forget to check out the other guest participants. There is always so much inspiration to be found in the ORC link ups!

Hey Linda, it always seems that our master bedrooms get attention last, doesn't it!? I love the direction you are going with your design plan. That rug will be perfect to pull it all together. Looking forward to watching your progress.

      Have a great weekend.

      Hugs, Lynn

Lynn, isn't that the truth! You think as the people who pay the mortgage or rent that we would have the best space first ?

That rug is currently in my attic, and I'm so happy to have a chance to use it. Thank you for taking the time to visit and comment!
