Hey friends! It's week 2 of the One Room Challenge {ORC}, where I'm making over my formal dining room into a home office.
If you're not familiar with the One Room Challenge you can get all the details in my week 1 post HERE.
This week I was determined to narrow down my big pieces {chairs, lighting, etc...} and have them ordered.
Yeah... That did not happen {way to be on top things Linda 😂}. Which has me a bit in panic mode right now.
But you're here to find out what I did get done this week, so let's talk about it.
Here's a little reminder of the general look I'm aiming for in my dining room office.
Although I did not get everything ordered like I wanted to, I did score big with my "desk" {really a dining table}.
I knew wanted to go with a trestle style table for my desk the minute I decided to turn our formal dining room into a home office.
For the most part trestle tables can be a bit on the pricey side.
That's why I was over the moon when I came across World Market's Arcadia table. I got it for a deep discount since it's on sale, plus I bought the floor model #winning.
I breathed a huge sigh of relief after finding the "desk" for such a good price. Even still my budget is still a little tight, so I'm tackling two big DIY's for this makeover.
The first DIY project is giving this very {very} old Ikea shelf {that used to be in my master bedroom} a makeover with some glossy white paint.
This shelf will provide plenty of storage for all my office supplies. Of course not having to purchase another large piece of furniture is also great for my budget.
Not only I'm I reusing the shelf, but the baskets too. I plan to get two more baskets {so I have a full row}, and then paint all of them to get a gray{ish} finish similar to the basket in the photo below.
I will be sharing this makeover in a seperate post, so keep an eye out for it.

The other big DIY that I'm totally excited about, is creating some chinoiserie panels like you see in my inspiration board.
I have dreamed of doing a project like this using some Degournay wallpaper since I was in my 20's.
But, I couldn't afford Degournay wallpaper then and I still can't afford it now LOL.
I will be using this beautiful {and affordable} temporary wallpaper from Tempaper along with these vintage faux bamboo frames I scored for $30 at a local antique mall last week.
The wallpaper should be here next week.
Oh, I also finally sold our dining set to a lovely couple, who just saved my sanity.
Now that the old dining set is gone, and the "desk" is in place I feel like I can really get started on this makeover.
As I did with my previous master bedroom update One Room Challenge in the fall, I'm making over room this room in real time. Meaning I have not ordered anything ahead of time and I know it going to be a mad dash until reveal day.
I will be posting progress updates every Thursday and I would love for you to follow along with me on this roller coaster ride that is the ORC by signing up for my newsletter!
Also be sure to check out the other guest participants week 2 update at the official ORC link up.
Thank you for visiting! See you next time!
