Hey friends! So as you can tell by the title I'm jumping in again for another round of the One Room Challenge {ORC}. This time I'm making over my formal living room and dining room.
Catch up: Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Reveal
If you haven't heard of the One Room Challenge {ORC} before, here's the rundown. Twice a year {April and October} 20 Featured Designers are chosen to completely transform a space in 6 weeks. In addition, other bloggers {like myself} can also join the ORC as Guest Participants to also transform a space in our home in the same 6 weeks period.
This will be my 3rd time participating in the ORC and while it is stressful, the results are always worth it!
I transformed the dining room of our last house into a much-needed home office with feminine flair last April.
In October 2016, I tackled the master bedroom in our old house, and it's by far my favorite makeover ever! And it seems a lot of people think so too. It's been pined over 21,000 times!
Living Room & Dining Room Before
For this round of the ORC, I decided to tackle my formal living room and attached dining room. Our family just moved into our new home a mere 3 months ago. So this is just the push I need to get these spaces decorated without too much procrastinating {which apparently is my super power}.
Here are the rooms as seen in my new home tour post with video before we moved in any furniture in.
As you can see the formal living room is not a big space. But I love the big bright window and wood floors, which is also present in the dining room.
This is what the living and dining room looked liked once we actually moved in. Boxes everywhere!
Don't judge me you guys because while I have made progress and unpacked pretty much all the boxes. I was more focused on making the high traffic rooms in our house like our family room and bedrooms livable. So both rooms have now become a place where wayward furniture and decor have collectively gathered dust.
This is one of the reasons I've been pretty quiet on Instagram because nothing is cute in this house right now. LOL Ugh!
And although I know more or less the design direction I want to go in. There is still a lot of major decisions up in the air.
This coming week I will be working on finalizing my plans for these two spaces and sharing my design board and full design plans with you next week so be sure to check back!
Also, be sure to check out what all of the other Guest Participants are planning for their makeover!

Can't wait to see what you will do with the space! It has so many possibilities and i just love those floors and how open it is! Believe me, European Houses are so small compared to North American, so it looks huge to me!

Thanks, Katrin! I noticed that the homes in Europe are much smaller when I used to watch House Hunters International {I hope that doesn't sound ignorant}.
