Hey Friends! One of the reasons I love getting home decor catalogs like Pottery Barn is because they are always full of inspiration!
Today I'm sharing with you a simple glitter Easter egg DIY that was inspired by some beautiful glitter eggs I saw in Pottery Barn's catalog.

I knew I could create something similar using inexpensive materials.Which makes these beautiful Easter eggs very budget friendly and easy to make {exactly how I like my DIY projects?}!
Plus you can create them in whatever colors you like!
Supplies:
Small brush
Decoupage glue {I used Mod Podge}
Fine and coarse glitter {I've linked to the exact colors I used, but use any color you like}
Skewers and/or cake pop sticks {I used skewers and my daughter who was "helping" use the cake pop sticks}
Styrofoam wreath for drying {I got mine from the Dollar Store}
Rustoleum clear gloss for sealing the glitter
There are five easy steps to making these beautiful Pottery Barn glitter Easter eggs
1- Insert cake pop stick or skewer into the bottom of your egg {I prefer the skewers because they are longer, but I think the cake pop sticks are safer for the kiddos}. Brush the glue all over the egg.
2- While holding the egg over a piece of paper on your work surface {so you can reuse the glitter that doesn't stick to the egg}, slowly sprinkle glitter all over the egg. Turning the egg as you go along to make sure it's completely covered.
3- When your egg is completely covered, give it a little shake to get rid of excess glitter and stick into you styrofoam wreath to dry {I let mine dry for about an hour}.
*Remember glitter can be a bit mess to work with. But, if you protect your work surface clean up can also be a breeze. In addition to using the small tray you see in the pictures, I also used a large poster board over my table {both from the dollar store}. Once I was done I just folded the poster board and put it in the trash, and viola the glitter is gone!
Repeat the steps above for as many eggs as you want.
4- Now to seal the glitter! Take your dry eggs to a well-ventilated area and spray them with two light coats of Rustoleum's clear gloss spray paint.
Allowing the spray to dry in between coats. Doing this will ensure sure you don't have glitter all over your house and to make your eggs last longer.
5- Take the skewers/cake pop sticks out by holding the egg while you gently twist the skewer or cake pop sticks out.
It will leave a small hole in the bottom, which I left as is on my eggs.
If you would like to cover it, just brush a small bit of glue over the hole and sprinkle with matching glitter.
That's it. Simple right?! But, the result is stunning! Beautiful Easter eggs that's ready to add a festive touch to any room in your home!
Also don't be afraid to experiment with your glitter! In a small container, I mixed different colors of fine and coarse glitter together to achieve the looks of my eggs.
I found doing it this way rather than just using fine glitter gives the eggs beautiful texture and depth, almost as if they are jeweled eggs!
I just love how these turned out!
