    Pretty in Pink Girls Room Makeover {Week 3}

You guys where has the month gone! Week 3 of Project: #1room30days  has come and gone, and I'm starting to feel the pressure a bit. I still have a ton left to do before I can reveal Kayla's big girl bedroom makeover!

    #1Room30Days2

So, when we left off last week, The room got painted, I found the perfect vintage desk chair for Kayla, plus we organized and decluttered her toys {we still need to do her books!}. This week was all about sourcing fabric for her window seat and desk chair, recover said window seat and chair, and set up her new bed.

I got most of that done, but not all of it.

New bed for the big girl bedroom!

Kayla's new tufted daybed was the piece I was most excited to get in her room! I was so excited, I put it together myself  {although hubby did help a little with he trundle part haha}!

In a way this whole big girl bedroom makeover was spurred by Kayla needing a new bed.  Although you can't tell, Kayla's old bed was broken. The side rails that holds the slats for the mattress had come almost completely loose. Anytime Kayla got into bed with a little too much enthusiasm, the slats along with the mattress would end up on the floor!

A new bed was definitely in order. I love the look of this bed, plus it comes with a trundle that will be perfect for sleepovers!

    Fabric and reupholstering

OK this fabric sourcing has been a pain in the you know what for me you guys. It's my own fault, because I waited entirely too long to look for fabric. I just assumed finding a solid color fabric wouldn't be that hard. Well, several fabric stores later, I realize I was wrong!

I breathed a sigh of relieve when I found this blue fabric that I love {I was starting to panic y'all}. So, I found my fabric and I was going to finish the bench this weekend. Well, guess what I did?!  For some crazy reason, I got two yards of  fabric instead of three! Since this was on Saturday and they are not open on Sundays, I was unable reupholster the window seat this weekend. Sigh.

Anyway, here's a preview of the fabric draped over the window seat. I like it a lot! Now to get more so I can actually get this window seat done!

As far as the desk chair well, thank goodness for progress! I was able to finish that this weekend! I was inspired by this Pottery Barn Teen chair I saw on a PB Teen Blog post written by Cassidy from O My Darlings and decided to add a little faux fur to the mix. Once I showed Kayla the pictures of the PB chair she was obsessed with having a "furry" chair {her words LOL}.

This was my first time upholstering anything using faux fur and it wasn't hard at all! I will post a full tutorial of the makeover after the reveal, but for now here's a peak!

    Shopping Update

I didn't get anything as exciting as a vintage lucite chair, but I did purchase these bolster pillows from Target. I think they are too  big, so I'm returning them. I still need to find a lamp for Kayla's desk, pillows, and window treatment.  So some shopping will be in order this week.

That's all folks for this weeks update on Kayla's big girl bedroom.I'm not as far as I would like to be, which mean I'm really going to have to hustle this week to get as much done as possible!

Week 1: Finalize room plans, make all online orders, and pick out paint color.

    Week 2: Declutter and paint.

Week 3: Fabric for window seat and chair, reupholster and paint desk chair, and set up new bed.

Week 4: Accessories,  window treatment, and reupholster window seat.

    Week 5: Reveal

I hope you will follow along with my progress over the next few weeks! I will be posting updates every Monday, so consider signing up to get my new posts delivered right to your inbox. I promise, no spam ever!
