Hey there! This weeks plans for Project: #1room30days Kayla's big girl bedroom makeover, was to work on the finishing touches like the accessories and window treatments.
I've learned when you have 30 days to get a room done from start to finish, it is inevitable there will be a mad dash at the end to pull it all together for the reveal.
Like right now i've got all of the big pieces in place but, I'm struggling with window treatments and the layout for her wall art with little time left to figure it out.
Ok, so let's chat about what's been going on this week. First things first, let's all say a big hallelujah, I finally recovered the window seat. I love the color and it feels oh so soft.
All of my online orders like the sconce, rug {seen in the pic above}, and acrylic book ledges all arrived on time and have been installed.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know Kayla and I did some last minute shopping for her room this past weekend.
Like most of our shopping trips, we started at Target. Have you seen the super cute Pillowfort line of kids decor items {of course you have!}? Kayla and I basically wanted one of everything {but our budget wasn't having that}. So we put everything back except for a few favorites, like this cute unicorn plush toy and flamingo sheets {not shown}.
We also picked up a few new pillows from Target and HomeGoods.
Another item we picked up at Target from the Pillowfort line is this pretty {but tiny} pink and brass lamp, for Kayla's desk. I had a feeling it would be too small, but Kayla loved it. So we brought it home but, you can see how small it is compared to Kayla's current lamp which is also a small lamp.
I wanted a lamp for Kayla's desk that is a bit more substantial than the glass one she currently has. However, with basically no time left, I might have to just keep her current lamp. It looks cute enough with the new heart lampshade {also from the Pillowfort line}.
One of the changes I've made from the inspiration board I shared in week 1, is to go with a pinboard instead of mirror over Kayla's desk. She loves to draw and write, so it will be much more functional for her.
Even before this makeover I've been making heart eyes at PBTeen's Emily & Meritt Scallop pinboard but, at $249 it was absolutely out of the question. So, I decided to DIY my own version {you can see a peek of it in the photo above}.
Of course I will share a full tutorial with you after the reveal.
I have a busy but fun week ahead of me finishing up the room, taking pictures and getting the final post together. I look forward to seeing you back here next Monday for Kayla's big girl bedroom REVEAL.
Week 1: Finalize room plans, make all online orders, and pick out paint color.
Week 3: Fabric for window seat and chair, reupholster and paint desk chair, and set up new bed.
Week 4: Accessories, window treatment, and reupholster window seat.
Week 5: Reveal

I absolutely love that rug!! I love the blush shade - I am sure it will grow with her! It's playful for a little girl, but could also go in a grown up girl's room. Can't wait to see your DIY pinboard and the reveal next week! Good luck for the last leg 🙂
