One of my absolute favorite holiday traditions is making holiday treats with my mother in law. We'll spend a whole afternoon chatting and laughing away with the kids while making yummy goodies. This year we decided to add a few new recipes like these red velvet Oreo balls and man are they good!
The best part, no oven is required and you only need 3 ingredients! Red velvet Oreos, cream cheese, and chocolate candy melts.
Just these simple ingredients will leave you with truffle-like Oreo balls that are creamy in the center {without even a hint of cream cheese flavor} with a smooth chocolatey exterior.
Another great thing about these Oreo balls is that they are easy to customize. With the addition of some pink and red sprinkles, they can be the perfect Valentine's Day treat to share. Not a fan of sprinkles, you can just set aside a little bit of the crush Oreos to sprinkle on top while the chocolate is still "wet".
~ No-Bake Red Velvet Oreo Balls ~
~Start by crushing the Oreos in a food processor. While you can totally make this recipe without a food processor {I've done it before} using one does speed things up. Set aside some of the Oreo crumbs for sprinkling over the Oreo balls if you wish.
~Add the cream cheese to the Oreo crumbs in your food processor and pulse until well blended.
~Scoop out the mixture using a tablespoon {measuring spoon, not a regular spoon}, rubbing it between your palms until it forms a ball. Place the Oreo balls on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Place the Oreo balls in the fridge for 10 minutes to help them firm up and not come apart when you dip them in the chocolate.
~Melt the chocolate according to the package directions. I decided on white candy melts {Ghirardelli chocolate wafers are my favorite}, but you can use any color you like. Using a fork {or these chocolate dipping tools that I used} dip the Oreo ball into the melted chocolate, tapping the fork on the side of the bowl to ger rid of excess chocolate. Place them back on the parchment lined cookie sheet. Sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs or sprinkles while the chocolate is still "wet".
~Refrigerate them until they are firm, about 30 minutes or so and enjoy!
