Studio McGee Inspired DIY Painted Woven Wall Baskets

With $3 can of spray paint I was able to pull together these Studio McGee inspired DIY painted woven wall baskets in no time.

When I came across this photo of McGee & Co. (Studio McGee's shop) now discontinued Marea Woven Wall Baskets on Pinterest. I literally said out loud "Oh I can paint those baskets!".

If you're wondering what baskets I'm talking about. It's a very similar set of woven wall baskets in my entry. Before that, they were in my living room in our Tennesee house way back in 2016 (before they were trendy or Studio McGee was selling them LOL).

My version is a warm natural color. Coupled with the wood tone of the bench legs and the table in my entryway. It was too much wood and had a matchy matchy (a totally legit decorating term).

Eventually, I would like to hang something else in this area (I just don't know what yet). So for now, the baskets are staying.

Like I mentioned McGee & Co. no longer sell these woven baskets. But if you would like a similar look. You can easily make your own the same way I did. Not sure if this even qualifies as a tutorial because it was so simple!

    Supplies:

    • Rust-Oleum heirloom white spray paint
    • Woven wall baskets

After dusting off the woven wall baskets. I laid them down on a old piece of cloth, front side down. Spraying them with two coats of Rust-Oleum heirloom white spray paint starting with the backside. Waiting about 15 minutes in between coats.

After about an hour (this was outside in warm weather), I flipped them and again did two coats of the off white spray paint. Once I was done spraying them. They stayed outside for a couple of hours to fully dry.

This simple DIY only had about 10-15 minutes of active work time. And the result is a great looking dupe of the Studio McGee version. The lighter color goes in a long way in modernizing these woven wall baskets.

My Studio McGee pillow from Target I showed you in this post found a home on the bench. I still have some more updates plan for the entry. Namely getting a rug and possibly updating the lamps.
