Hey friends! Have you been following along with my tiny pantry project? If so, you might have caught my small closet pantry reveal, where I shared the finished space of a small closet turned dream pantry (my dream pantry hehe).
So today I'm sharing exactly how I organized everything to make this tiny but migthy pantry work hard for our family.

My Pantry Organization Method
As I shared before, this space is tiny, as it was originally just a small coat closet (44"L x 39"W). I wanted everything organized in a way that prioritized visibility.
And since I'm also a firm believer in organizing by category when it comes to a pantry. Here's how I broke everything down:
The Countertop Area is where my toaster and air fryer live, and right next to it? A basket that holds our frequently used condiments. It's nice to have everything we need within arm's reach when using the air fryer.

The Lower Closed Cabinet holds our snacks and breakfast items. These are things we grab frequently, especially during the morning rush when things get tossed wherever. So having them behind closed doors just makes sense.
One Dedicated Shelf holds all my dry goods like flour, sugar, rice, and pasta. I mostly used the OXO Pop Containers, and so far, I love them! They keep everything fresh and look so good, all uniformly lined up together.

The Cooking Essentials Lazy Susan is stocked with all the cooking sauces and oils I reach for constantly when cooking. We're talking soy sauce, sesame oil, browning, balsamic vinegar, and red wine vinegar.
Canned Goods Section to keep all our canned items organized so that I can actually see what we have and avoid buying duplicates. I used an expandable 3-tier shelf. So now even the cans in the back are easy to see and grab!

The Woven Basket System
Those three woven baskets in the lower open shelf are working overtime! One holds all our instant noodles and ramen (my kids favorite), another contains sauces like pasta sauce, chicken broth, and salad dressing. While the last one holds random food items like dry mushrooms.
I also have this clear open container with a bamboo lid that's been perfect for storing our onions, shallots, garlic, and potatoes. It keeps them accessible but contained, and the airflow helps them stay fresh longer.

Over The Door Spice Rack
While I love the entire pantry, hands down, one of my favorite additions is this over-the-door rack! I keep my everyday spices in the kitchen, and I needed somewhere for all those overflow spices.

Since I've had this same rack for 7+ years in my previous home, I knew it would be perfect. This rack freed up so much space and honestly helped the whole pantry feel less crowded.
Plus, having spices right there when I'm grabbing cooking oils and sauces? So convenient.

My Top Organizing Tips
Whether you have a custom small closet pantry like mine or just shelves to work with, these principles have made all the difference:
Group like items together. It sounds simple, but keeping similar things in the same area means you always know where to look and what you have on hand.
Don't buy more food than you have space for. This is the big one. When you know your storage limits, you're less likely to overbuy, which means less waste and a more organized space that actually stays organized.
Invest in practical storage containers. Those woven baskets, OXO pop containers, and bins aren't just pretty. They corral small items and make everything easier to access.

The Biggest Surprise
Honestly? I'm still shocked at how such a small closet (we're talking less than 4'x4') has become such a functional pantry. Every inch is working for us, and nothing feels cramped or chaotic.
We actually still have room left on the top shelf. It just goes to show that thoughtful organization can transform even the tiniest spaces.

Setting up this small closet pantry taught me that organization isn't about having tons of space. It's about using the space you have intentionally.
Every item has a home, and that makes cooking, meal planning, and even just grabbing a snack so much easier.

What's your favorite pantry organization trick? I'd love to hear what works in your space!
