This vintage faux bamboo shelf was collecting dust in my garage for over a year. Now it's one of my favorite elements in my One Room Challenge office guest bedroom makeover!
This find was originally shared in June 2017, I've updated it to show the after photos.

I'm so excited to share my latest thrifting find with you!
A vintage faux bamboo pagoda style shelf I scored for only $45 plus an extra %10 off {insert happy dance}!
After standing in the booth analyzing it for a weirdly long time.
It dawned on me that it was identical to the one in this beautiful photo I pinned ages ago to my blue and white decor board on Pinterest.
Knowing how beautiful this piece could look with a little gold spray paint I was sold!

It barely fit in my car. I literally had to drive with my head tilted to the left as it was practically resting on my shoulders the whole ride home.
The neck cramp was totally worth it though 😆.
Vintage Faux Bamboo Shelf Makeover
When I initially purchased this faux bamboo shelf back in 2017 I was going to put it in my daughter's room.
However, that's around the time my husband lost his job and decorating had to be put on the back burner.
Fast forward to over a year later and a new house. This faux bamboo shelf is going to live in my office guest room that I'm currently working on for the One Room Challenge.
This past week I finally got to work on it {only a 1+ year later, nothing to see here LOL}.
I shared some real time behind the scenes videos on my Instagram stories, so be sure to follow me, friends!
Once I had it outside, I gave it a good cleaning then painted with primer.
Once that was dry I sprayed it with 3 thin coats of gold paint {letting each coat dry in between}.
And well, it turned out as pretty as I hoped it would!
Since this piece is metal there are some imperfections, but that's usually to be expected with vintage pieces.
While the original white color wasn't bad.
It's like this faux bamboo shelf was made to be gold!
The color just highlights the beautiful shape of this piece so nicely.
Seeing it in my office guest room {which is a work in progress} makes me feel like I'm really starting to make some real progress.
Plus it makes me even more excited to share the reveal with y'all in 2{ish} more weeks!
If you also love the look of the pagoda style shelves but are not into thrifting, here are some affordable options!
