From gross to gorgeous! Inexpensive thrifted lamps makeover lights up the entryway.
You guys may have figured out by now when doing a One Room Challenge {ORC} makeover {1 room, 6 weeks, endless stress LOL} there is a lot of shopping involved!
During this last ORC in the spring, It felt like I had been to every thrift/antique store in Atlanta.
Imagine my surprise during one of those thrift store runs I spotted this baby!

Ok, I can tell you're giving me the side eye right now.
Like Linda why are you so excited about this gross lamp with the 10-gallon hat looking lampshade.
But look closer...
It's the matching lamp to the Crisa vintage glass lamp I found back in 2016 in Tennessee.
The first one I found was $8 at the thrift store. This one, $38 at the antique mall {humph}.
Initially, that did bring me down from my thrift score high but only for a minute.
A little Googling reminded me that these types of vintage lamps can go for a pretty penny online.
I mean they sold them on 1st Dibs, where the average price for a pair of vintage lamps is $1000+.
So under $50 for the pair is not so bad, right?
I already shared a full post on how I took this lamp from gross to gorgeous in my thrifted lamp before and after post.
So I'll spare you the icky details, and jump straight to the after.
You can't hear me {thankfully} but right now I'm singing - reunited and it feels so goood {in my Peaches & Herb voice}.
Don't they look amazing as a pair! It's like I didn't know how much I wanted this until now.
Like I've told you guys before, I love big lamps that make a statement.
And these absolutely fit the bill!
The mirror in our entryway is almost 5 feet tall, and the Everett table from World Market is almost 6 feet wide.
You can imagine how dinky and out of scale these lamps would look if they were small.
So keep scale in mind when styling your own home. I see this a lot with big headboards and little lamps on the nightstand.
This entry is a {slow} work in progress.
Along with adding this "new" fabulous pair of lamps to the entryway.
I also switched out the navy blue console table that was here for the Everett table from World Market {hands down one of my favorite pieces of furniture I own}.
Honestly speaking since painting the front door black I kinda knew that navy blue table wasn't long for the entryway.
The natural wood tone of the Everett table looks so much better with the black door.
Another thing I was aiming to do is make this area look less formal.
Using these clear glass lamps instead of the white and gold ones I had here previously is definitely helping with that.
I have more entry updates to share with you, so stay tuned!

Linda P. says
Hi Whitney, Sorry to hear you've been having a hard time finding baskets for your Everett table. The ones I have are from HomeGoods. Here are some options I found that should fit {affiliate links}. Good luck and let me on here or social media if you do find one!

I just returned from a lovely trip two week trip to the Canadian Maritimes, and have been catching up on all my emails, so this comment is a little tardy, but no less sincere, what an eye you have for bargains and definite decorating talent. I love your foyer, Linda. I look forward to more updates.

Dear Linda!
You have certainly impressed me with your entry way!! It is absolutely stunning! The lamps are perfect and what a price!!! There’s something about your black door that seems to make everything look so comfortable! We live in an apartment or I’d have paint brush in hand today!
Thank you for such a lovely example of both fine and fun decorating😊!

Lucy thank you so much for visiting today and leaving such a lovely message 😊
I'm a renter myself so I know how it can be when you want to something but can't {it's wallpaper for me}. I figured it never hurt to ask the landlord and sometimes if I know I will be in a place long enough, I just paint anyway knowing I will have to paint it back when I leave.
