Hey friends! In addition to a coffee table, I've been on the hunt for a side table that has a narrow profile to use next to our sectional for months.
A few weeks back I spotted this little Duncan Phyfe side table at an estate sale. The scale and shape was exactly what I was looking for!
After learning everything would be half price the next day, I took a chance and left without it. I went back first thing the next morning, and did a little happy dance when I saw it was still there. Snagged it for $40!
I love all the details on it. Especially the claw feet {which I already decided had to be some shade of gold the moment I laid eyes on it!}.
I knew I could give this table a new lease on life with just a little paint. As you can see the top has seen better days.
The thing is, I'm stuck on what color to paint it!
My first thought was to paint it something bright and fun like Kelly green. But, my rug already has a busy pattern, and I don't want them competing with each other.
So I decided to paint it a neutral color in a lacquered finish {to give it some oomph!}.
These are the three color options I'm considering for the table.
Gray- I just love this color! It's as versatile as white, but with a bit more warmth.

Black- I'm really drawn to the contrast of the black and gold. This color would also tie into the other black elements in the space, like my shelves and fireplace surround.
White- Because what's not to love about a little white {and gold} table?

So I'm curious what color would you paint this side table if it were you? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Black will show all the dust...every single day. I wanted you to paint it green until I saw the rug. Go for white.

I think it would look fantastic in either black or white with the gold accent. I'm intrigued to see how it would look in the gray as well, as it looks like you have a few other pieces in black. If I'm reading the picture correctly.

Hey Darnetha, thank you for your input! I do have some black accents in the room already! I really wanted to do black, however now that I'm thinking of switching things up a little bit for spring in the upcoming months. I'm not sure the black with work, but I'm very intrigued by the gray also!

I would love it in black or white depending on the rest of your furniture and decoration in the house 🙂 Personally I'd probably choose white 😀
Have a wonderful day, Linda.

Hi Beate, thanks for stopping by. I was sold on the idea of black until I saw a very similar styled space as my home on Instagram this weekend with a beautiful white side table and I loved it! Now I don't know what to do 🙂 !

Thank you Erin! I love it too! I have been dragging my feet about this for weeks now, I might just have to pick one and go for it! 🙂
