With major projects {dresser} and decor elements {curtains} not coming together as I thought. It's safe to say week 5 of the One Room Challenge did not go according to plan.
Catch up with the previous weeks using the links below.
Week 1 & 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Reveal
There’s a saying “never let them see you sweat” but you guys are my people, right?
I can be real with you...
I’M FREAKING OUT!
This is my fourth one room challenge, so I’m aware of the inherent stress that comes with this it. Especially when you’re in the homestretch of week 4 & 5.
But somehow last week everything got away from. Leaving me feeling overwhelmed and wondering will I even finish on time 😖!
But let’s start with the good stuff!
Although, it took much longer than I thought it would. The dresser is done, hallelujer! Although, I still need to install the new hardware on the rest of the drawers.
I’ve started pulling in the accessories and it’s getting making excited for the reveal!
I’ve been waiting almost 3 years to use my tabaco leaf lamp!
I also got around to cleaning the IKEA Docksta table that I got in the as-is section.
Besides the tiny scratches on top of the table, you would think it was a new table.
I have a little tip for cleaning it up that I’ll be sharing with y’all pretty soon.
Now onto the bad...
The curtains have actually really been the biggest bee in my bonnet this week.
I needed 6 panels, but I only had 4. So I purchased the extra 2 panels and washed them along with the other 4. And they shrunk, which I knew would happen. But they didn’t shrink at the same length.
So I had high water curtains in various lengths 😭
It was a mess y’all.
So I went back to my favorite cheap white curtains that I've used for years from Ikea.
I ordered these bolster pillows from pottery barn teen. They are a final sale so I just took a leap of faith.
Once they arrive I felt better because I love how the play with my leopard print Bolster pillow.
Which Mirror?
Also, I'm torn between these two mirrors, I would love to know which one you would choose!
The gold one is the one I planned to use originally. But, now thinking will it be too much gold in this area with the gold bamboo shelf, gold detailing on the desk and lamp.
So I got the white one because of the shape and color to offset some of the gold. Yet I'm not sure I like it, more than the gold.
One Room Challenge Week 5 Video Update
And there are a million little other things that happened this week that I won’t bore you with.
But, I’m thinking I need to pare it back and bring it back to what I wanted from the beginning, a casual light, and airy space.
So I’ll see you next week and let’s all collectively cross our fingers that there’s a reveal!

Nam Kaur says
Yes on the white mirror! everything is going to be beautiful, you always do a marvelous job....love the rug and the lamp...
Linda P. says
Thank you Nam! I’m definitely leaning towards the white one.

Thank you Nam!

Use the white mirror. I agree with your hunch that the gold is too much gold, and the style is also too heavy. The round white is also a nice echo of the table. And btw I really want one of those tables!
Linda P. says
Hi Lisa! Aren’t those tables cool! I’m sure you can make one work in your space. If you search tulip table on Pinterest you’ll see in so many different interior style. Thanks for the feedback on the mirror.
Linda P. says
Thanks Lisa, I think I came up with a good compromise 😉
Linda says
Go with the white one. As much as I love the gold mirror, the golds altogether, and even the shapes, including the horizontal gold lines, are too similar right next to each other. Idk how you guys do it. I love following along on the One Room Challenge, but could never get it all done or handle the stress, but I think you're going to make it! Good luck!
Linda P. says
Hey Linda {I really like your name 😉}, I feel the same about the gold mirror. While I generally like it better than the white one I think it does pack a strong gold punch.
You know I was terrified when I did my first ORC. But, half way through I realize. Hey no matter what, it’s probably always going to be an improvement over how it started.
Linda P. says
Hi Linda! Thanks for the input. I'm not going to lie, it's stressful towards the end. But, the results are always worth it. And, it's good for procrastinators like me to have a deadline 🙈
