Have you guys heard of the World's Longest Yard Sale? If not don't feel bad, I only discovered it last year by accident during one of my weekend garage sale runs.
The World's Longest Yard Sale is a 4 day event that takes place each year at the beginning of August. The sale spans from Michigan to Alabama along the 127 corridor.
I ventured out on Saturday to experience the World's Longest Yard Sale {not by accident this time}. Although I only stuck to the small area I've circled on the map. I visited well over a 100 vendors!
The treasures where plenty, and really tested my resolve! I'm at a point now where I'm {really} trying to be very selective about what I bring home {mostly because it's starting to feel cluttered up in here ? }.
Still, you know I got a little something something ? . More on that later.
Here is small sampling of the goodies I came across.
*Disclaimer: I apologize for the quality of the vide. I'm a totally newbie at this, and I took them to share via Instagram Stories feature where they look fine vertically, but not so much on YouTube. I hope you enjoy it anyway.

The only thing I HUGELY regret not getting is the gum ball machine seen in the video!
I actually went back to the vendor on Sunday, but of course it sold already {insert sad face}.
Then, lo and behold I looked over and I couldn't believe it! Not one but two gum ball machines identical to the one I passed up! However, once I got a closer look I realized they are both attached to the stand {devastation}. Sigh...Maybe next time.
As you can see in the video I did not leave with anything on Saturday. But on Sunday I did find a few treasures.
You guys know I have a lamp hoarding problem. I love love this porcelain "Tobacco Leaf" lamp and at $20 there was no way it wasn't coming home with me.
Although I don't need another blue and white piece, for $5 I couldn't pass this one up because of the unique handle piece!
This small vintage faux bamboo curio display table by Brandt definitely needs some TLC, but I think it has a lot of potential, especially for $20!
Any ideas what color I should paint it?
If I had to do it again, I think I would've definitely brought the gum ball machine and small pink and stool. However, I'm not broken up about it. There is always next year! Plus, I really love the pieces I did get!
Have you ever been to the World's Longest Yard Sale? If so, let me know in the comments below!
P.S. Let me know if you like the idea of me adding videos to some of my posts. Like would you want to go thrifting with me {virtually that is and with the camera held the correct way ? }?

You showcased some great finds! I would have been devastated about the gumball machine too! The double gumball machine was gorgeous too! Love the lamp you ended up with and for the table, where will you put it? Maybe painted gold would be cute?

Hey Carli! That gumball machine is going to hunt me now until I find one of my very own! The table is going in our loft area and well you know me too well, gold is always a good idea! ☺️

So great you did the video. I have definitely heard about it and do plan to go one day. I'm new to your blog about 2 weeks ago. I love your beautiful home and feel you are a very talented decorator on a budget! Look forward to following for a long time!!

I learned about this event on HGTV. They use to have a one hour special about it every year. Attending the World's Longest Yard Sale is on my bucket list!!! Since I haven't been able to go yet, I enjoyed experiencing it through your eyes! Great post! #sojealous 🙂

Charlene, I remember seeing the show on HGTV as well! My approach is very laid-back. I just get up and take the 30 minute drive. But I know a lot of people plan it out for months and go to different states and I think that's great too. I hope you get a chance to go one day!

OMG! I didn't even know about this! I wished I lived closer. 🙁
I applaud your resolve of not buying anything the first day, how did you do that ! Love your purchases - esp the blue and white piece. I loved all the midcentury chairs at the beginning of the video. And that bar cart at the end!!! ???
I feel like I need to go thrifting today. I might just!
Linda P. says
Vin, I never heard of it before last Summer. It was sooo hard to not just throw everything in my car ?. There so many mid century pieces, I was surprised actually. That bar cart was AMAZING! The video didn't do it any justice! Thanks for stopping by sweet friend! ??
